Upon arriving at this hotel our first reaction was we're at the wrong location! It wasn't till we read the sign on the door that we realized the hotel is on the top floor. This could be notified better on the website. The front desk lady didn't speak a word of English, which at first made things difficult. After a...

It is not easy to find nice and clean hotel in Rome for a reasonable price. Astoria is an excellent choice and I will continue staying there. It's very close to the metro, it provides free Wifi (if you have your own computer, tablet or phone), it has a nice terrace. And for my business trips I need a place...

A real beautiful experience is not when all is OK! there are many hotels in the world that have the beauty of material construction, but, our stay at the All Comfort Astoria, was made "Perfect" by the human element. It is amazing that one single person (Giulia Fortunato) can make sucha a B-I-G change. Giulia made everyday for us a...

Although, at first glance, we thought 'we'd been dropped off in the wrong place', once we found our accommodation on the top floor of this building we were pleasantly surprised! Spacious and comfortable bed and, although decor was old-fashioned and not 'our cup of tea', everywhere was clean. The receptionist was very polite and helpful which made up for the...

I travel a lot and have stayed in many hotel ranging from all possible levels. I fell in love with the hotel at first sight. For the value, I do not think how one can get better than this. I have searched many hotels and Astoria was great for my expectations. Old fashioned elevator takes you to the 4th floor,...

This is not a hotel....it is not even really a B&B. It is located in a commercial area of Rome with no restaurants in the area....no sites to visit. We walked for about an hour on dark and basically deserted streets before we found somewhere to eat and it was at best bad. Management barely speaks English. The phone in...

We left the booking of our accommodation very late (until the last day before our trip!) to Rome. Couldn't really find a 'nice' place that was clean, central and reasonably priced. Then we found this place - absolute bargain!!! It's clean, central to the train line (literally 1 min walk) and really well priced. The place is on the 4th...

We loved Rome and thought that the Astoria Palace was cute and quaint. It's in what we considered a great location; about 500 feet from the metro and only four stops (about a 15 min ride) to the Colosseum. Because it's out of the city center, it was relatively quiet, save for sirens, and nearly deserted outside at night, with...

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo may look all street with its pulse in urban art and street food, but don’t be fooled. This gritty student neighbourhood immediately east of Termini train station is on the avant-garde rise. Art galleries, curated mural projects by artists like Rome’s favorite Alice, charming cafes, and boutique restaurants are slowly infiltrating the streets of San Lorenzo with counter-culture chic. Don’t worry, San Lorenzo still retains its local vibe with weekend festivals and demonstrations, and is always a hub for Rome’s university student scene.
