The choice of location was perfect for us. Ancient Rome a short walk away and practically on the river. The hub of restaurants and bars of Trastevre are close enough to walk to in 5 minutes and yet just far enough away to get a good night’s sleep. Breakfast is a joy around Marco's grand table, always with this charming... More

This was the third time we have stayed at our home in Rome, this time on our honeymoon, and we again enjoyed a wonderful stay with Marco at the Arco dei Tolomei in beautiful Trastevere. We loved our room's private terrace, the stately breakfast table and strolling the peaceful surrounding streets....and only a few minutes walk from the Historic Centre.... More

Tip top B&B in the lively Trastevere neighborhood, tucked away in a quiet side street. Very welcoming staff, owner has an abundance of very useful suggestions for visits in Rome, many of them well off the beaten path. We had a very nice and quiet room with period furniture and a terrace that made relaxing easy. We'll be back any... More

Staying here again was like being welcomed back by family. Marco and Gianna are so kind and gracious, and their guesthouse is comfortable and quiet, in a lovely part of Trastevere and an easy walk over the river to many sights. Avoid the big hotels--stay here instead for an authentic Roman experience.

My husband and I stayed a week here, in a lovely room with a large balcony where we would relax after long days of sightseeing. We brought back wine and sit outside eating local bread and cheese. Marco and his wife were delightful and so helpful with inside tips on how to enjoy the city. This B&B occupies several floors... More

This is an ideal place to stay you want to really experience Rome. Marco and his charming wife Gianna run a quiet, very comfortable, clean, place of great character, off the beaten track down a side street in Trastevere. The breakfast is indeed good however the best thing about Arco dei Tolomei is Marco himself. He was there with a... More

We really enjoyed our stay here. Our host Marco was very welcoming and helpful. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom modern. The breakfast was delicious and served in a lovely room. It was our first time to stay in Trastevere and we liked the location.

We have just returned from 4 nights here and our first trip to Rome. The location is superb and yet peaceful. At times it was hard to believe, just out of the door and moments away, lay the whole of Rome. The room was clean and quiet, with a small balcony. The breakfast room is lovely with a large table... This B&B was so wonderful and a perfect place to start our 10 day Italian vacation. Arco dei Tolomei was nestled in the beautiful Travestere neighborhood, just a short walk from all the sites across the river in the city center of Rome. We were so pleased with the location as it was close enough to everything, yet tucked away... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
