Great location right in the middle of all the sights so close to the forum and the colosseum it’s wonderful to be able to view them so easily and we walked to the Vatican it was about 50mins although there is a train station close by but we found a lot of sights as we walked the hotel is okay the staff are friendly enough the rooms are a bit strange the layout it doesn’t fit proberley the beds I think originally was a different design there wasn’t any storage space and the space there was I could not reach so we had to store the clothes on the side of the beds the shower is really tiny and it takes a while to figure out how to get the hot water and sometimes the drains smelled but not often....the cleaning lady was fabulous she did a great job the room each day was spotless. Breakfast was okay the host lady was great she new what drinks we wanted and was always very polite the hotel is a bit faded and with some tender love and care you could get it back to the four star hotel it used to be...the only thing I would suggest that annoyed me slightly was we had an early evening flight out so if we wanted to keep the room an extra few hours check out time was 11am they wanted us to pay another nights rates to keep it so we said no but then they didn’t have any prober back storage for suitcase they just put them in the place where you ate your breakfast so not entirely safe either let people keep the room or get somewhere to store suitcases!! But other than that it’s brilliant for seeing the sights

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in December and it was just perfect. After reading the reviews, we were a little worried in terms of the size of the room and breakfast options but were pleasantly surprised. We were in room 104 , it was a triple superior room. The room was well decorated, not like the other reviews I am reading. It was a good size, including the bathroom. We travelled from London and therefore the size was more or less the same you would get here so we did not think the room was small. Our room overlooked the main road, but it was sound proofed so could not hear a thing outside despite it being a very busy road. The walls etc are not sound proofed so you can hear people walking past the lift (our room was right next to the lift) but the guests were respectful so no major disturbances. The room also had tea/coffee facilities which was great as most rooms do not. It was cleaned daily to a high standard every single day. The cleaner was honestly outstanding. Breakfast was lovely, i was worried about how basic it would be after reading reviews but we loved it. Scrambled eggs, cheese, cold meats, breads, pastries, cereals, granola, jams, tea, coffee etc. Yes I have been to other hotels that have more choice and whilst it is great to look at, I do not actually eat all that is on offer. Breakfast was continental so was suited for all and therefore whilst not spoilt for choice, everything tasted good and filled you up. It is what I expect of breakfast in Europe. On our first day they made fresh croissants which was a treat. All staff at breakfast was outstanding and prompt which made you feel very welcome. Location was absolutely amazing. We only took a bus to the Vatican and trains to other cities. Everything else was very walk-able and no issues. To be able to secure a hotel in such a location in Rome for the price was just incredible. We went to the other cities so needed to get to Termini station. As it is only 1.50 euro to get on a train, we would just walk to Colosseo station which was a 5 min walk (simply turn right from the hotel and then left at the end of the road. It was then 2 stops from Colosseo and trains to Termini were frequent. The luggage room the hotel has is very convenient, which meant we didn't waste time waiting for check in on our first day (we arrived at 11am) and could leave the bags at the hotel and start sight seeing. I asked if we could check in earlier but the hotel was full and obviously there is little they can do by way of early check in if there is no room available. Obviously for city breaks, you are limited with days/time so being able to start sight seeing before even checking in is convenient. Check in was super easy as well, the hotel sent me a link to check in in advance so all they needed was our passports when we attended the hotel. We got busy sight seeing so arrived back at the hotel slightly later than 2pm (time of check in), and the staff had already taken our luggage to our room before we arrived which was very convenient. Reception staff were helpful when you needed anything also our stay was glitch free save for losing electricity one morning which was dealt with in 10 mins without issue. Many restaurant options available outside of the hotel so you have plenty to choose from, including Halal options for Muslims. In fact there were 3 halal places within 30 metres of the hotel, I am certain there were many more though. For Muslim travellers, you don't need to eat at halal places. We tend to do it so our food is not contaminated with meat etc, but after explaining to the traditional Italian restaurants that we do not want any cross contamination with food, all of which responded that the vegetarian options are cooked separately in another area from the meat which was reassuring. There were 2 mini markets that I recall, one slightly before the hotel and one slightly after, there was another larger one past the hotel on the oppose side and a much bigger one further on which also had vegan options etc. Obviously the bigger ones were slightly cheaper than the mini markets. All in all, an amazing stay. It was my second time in Rome and this hotel did not disappoint. If we were to ever go back, we would not look beyond this hotel so definitely go. Rome is an amazing city and great people and I definitely recommend going and staying at this hotel. We will be recommending it to our family and friends. Improvements: Whilst the hotel was great, just a slight suggestion for future improvements so this hotel continues to be great is that breakfast boxes should be provided for those leaving the hotel to start their day before the breakfast room opens. On 2 of the 5 days we stayed we travelled to the other cities very early and were not able to take advantage of breakfast. We did ask if a breakfast box option was available and we were told it was not. I think this would just make the hotel even better than it is currently. Thank you Hotel Solis for a great stay.

Booked this hotel as a cheap get away with EasyJet holidays. We stayed 3 nights. The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The location is of course what matters the most in Rome and this hotel does not disappoint, it is very close to ancient Rome and a short walk from most of the main attractions. We were put in the infamous room 204 and yes this is very small but it was fine. No tea and coffee in the rooms, Rome just doesn't do this, for an excellent cup of coffee go to the little shop just underneath the hotel. There are a few qwerks and bits and bobs that do need attention but it was a bargain break and Italian hotels at 3 a star level are all the same. I loved our hotel so convenient and the breakfast was great, lots of Continental choices. I would recommend.

Hotel perfectly located, 5 minutes walk from Colosseum / forum, 20 minutes walk from Pantheon and 50 minutes walk from The Vatican. Always plenty of taxis nearby as an alternative. We arrived way before check in time but they allowed us to leave our bags while our room was prepared. Staff friendly and helpful. Had room 204 which was a little on the small side but perfectly adequate as a base for exploring. Bathroom was adequately sized although it took a while for the shower water to warm up. Just left it to run for a couple of minutes, no issues. Returned to our room on the second night at about 9.30pm and there was no electricity. Couldn't be fixed so we were moved next door to room 203 which was huge. Breakfast was continental, plenty of cereals, yoghurts, pastries, meats, cheeses etc etc. Couldn't comment on the car parking because we took a taxi from the airport but the Wi-Fi was fine. Really enjoyed our stay here, would recommend it, especially for the sightseeing.
