Myself and my partner booked this hotel as we were on a budget and it was a last minute holiday (booked about 4 weeks in advance). First time to Italy. On the first night, we'd stated we would be arriving late (10pm-11pm) because our flight landed at 9pm. Roma Termini can be a little dodgy at night as we found...

We stayed at Blue Rain for 5 days and although it is basic our room and bathroom were always clean, we had fresh towels and linen.. It was slightly noisy outside because of the Termini station but the location is great and you can catch a train anywhere, staff is super friendly (when they are actually at the hotel) and...

We arrived early evening and found Blue Rain quite difficult to find as we didn't realise that it would within an apartment block up on the 6th floor. This needs to be made much clearer in the booking information! For the price we paid we weren't expecting much, however we were expecting better in terms of cleanliness and facilities. I...

Where to start?! After arriving late on the Monday night, we called the guesthouse like they told us to. Bearing in mind they knew we were arriving after midnight, we expected to just go in and get to bed after a long day travelling. No such luck. The way we were treated when we called was an utter disgrace and...

When I booked the Blue Rain guest house, I wasn't expecting anything grand for the price. But this guest house was the worst I've ever stayed in and is basically a dirty apartment in a block of flats with the rooms rented out. To access it you have to walk through a courtyard full of overflowing bins and abandoned baths...

Blue Rain is a reasonably inexpensive guest house next to Termini Station. The rooms are clean and comfortable with appropriate amenities. Gena on reception is very courteous and helpful. She assisted us with everything from laundry to the most inexpensive and practical way to get to Fiumacino (she saved us about Euros 30 for 3 people). Her English is fluent...

The responsible lady is very fluent in english unlike most of other hostels in rome. She is very kind and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Location is awesome! It is pretty close to termini and very central. We definitely recommend it!

Stayed here for two nights and was great for the price clean and the staff were great! Right by the station so it's in a good spot! The area was maybe the only let down with the locals being slightly intimidating! Staff were not there in the night meaning late arrivals were left outside to press the buzzer which was...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

“This is only the place for whom luxury isn't sought. If you're on a budget (and we were!), and only using the room as a home base, it's very, very reasonable and convenient. DON'T BE FOOLED by the dark atrium to the entire building or the peeling paint in the elevator entryway... I was WORRIED. Once we got to the actual desk and the room, everything was great.”
