Bathroom smelled like mold, and main staircase smelled pretty badly of trash and urine. The room itself was quite clean. The sheets were a little itchy (likely laundered with powerful chemicals), but that way, I knew they were clean. Location is ideal for early departures from Termini, but doesn't do much for you otherwise (whole neighborhood is a tourist trap...

Stayed here for 3 days. Had a hard time finding it's location. Far from Main Metro Station. For all the places I've stayed as a backpacker this one if I different. Maybe because the place is a bit old and need some improvements thought the owner is very kind and accommodating. Budget Hostel.

Very nice hostel. Great location and the owner is a great person. Room was small but in accordance to price, it was a great deal. I reccomend this place all visitors. Few words of conclusion: cheap, nice, comfortable

We stayed for three nights and the men working were sweet and kind through all of our stay. They kept checking we had everything and helped us out with buses and places to go. Made our stay so much fun

This was by far the worst place I've ever stayed in. We had booked an en suite room. Stayed 3 nights here. First, it took us 40 minutes to look for this place because there were no markings and directions pointing to the hotel. Then we entered and the elevator was not working ! One man helped carry our luggage...

It is a really basic hostel. The neighborhood might be a little not nice at night and the kitchen being on a different set is really unconfortable. The room didn't have a way to lock it, the kitchen closes at 20:00 and you have to look for the manager in the morning just to get a spoon for breakfast. I...

Do not place a reservation here, it is a scam and the manager is sleezy and cost us a lot more money than we originally agreed upon. The place itself is nice and clean and the two staff members working their were friendly enough (though they didn’t speak very good English). The area outside of the hostel is really sketchy,...

I stayed at Romangelo with a couple of friends for the weekend. Don't expect too much, as the rooms are kept really simple - but they are really clean! Staff is friendly, always around and really helpful! The hostel is really central (maybe 5 minutes from the main train station Termini). You can even walk to sights like Colloseum or...

I had 4 nights here from 26th May 2014. I have no complaints whatsoever other than the fact it's a little hard to find. Definitely book here, you'll feel welcome and secure, there's no real lockers that I saw, but didn't really matter as the building was secure, and the sorts of people that stay there seem fine. If you're...

The only good thing about this place was the clean bathrooms. There are two bathrooms - the other one is kind of hidden but it is available for use. The first issue is that it is very easy to miss this hostel. The second issue is that there are no locks on the doors to the rooms. Obviously this is...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

“They should paint the bedrooms because it gives the impresion of not caring having the walls so dirty. Also it is very unconfortable to hace to be asking to get the door open to get to the kitchen every single time. Aside from that, everything is fine.”
