Hello, I'm a student from Bavaria. We visited Rom for a few days and we spent the nights in Hotel "Philia", which is a hotel in Termini. After our check in, there soon was the first problem. First of all you have to know that the hotel is very old and a lot of things are damaged. So in my...

There is no hot water,no heating,no service, no wi-fi, bad food, Invalid WC ... I do not recommend this hotel everything is bad. It is located in a poor area of Rome. This is not a hotel but not a hostel. I have nothing good to say. Look at the pictures and see for yourself.

Booking was through a reputable agent and we thought that would be a guarantee even if the hotel was 3 star. The building housed at least two other hotels with a common entrance. The reception was no more than a desk and the room was up several flights of stairs. ( there was a lift, slow and antiquated ) The...

This is not really a 3 star hotel, but it is very clean, central and staff are pleased to help in every-way. The WiFi is payable and breakfast is very limited. My partner and I were giving a really small room, but they changed it for us after first night. The actual hotel is divided in another 2 hotels, but...

We weren't meant to be staying here, but a fault at our proposed hotel meant we were relocated to the hotel philia. We were optimistic that being closer to the termini would mean a good hotel. Do not be fooled. On arrival we found the building was shared by a few hotels. We were given our room key and some...

Hotel Philia was not too bad from my experience. Hotel was old, as expected but the rooms were always clean, and the housekeeping was arriving around 10 am. The hotel was very close to Termini and also not too far off walk to major attractions.

Stayed at this hotel in February for a school trip and we all had a great time! Hotel location is quiet, very centrally located and near train station ( very important thing when you stay the most part of the day out). The rooms are standard and the breakfast had a lot to choose from, including continental food. Helpful and...

We stayed at the Hotel Philia for 2 nights. Nice rooms, comfy beds and lovely staff. There are a lots of nice places to eat around and it is only 5 minutes from the central station. Reception were helpful when organising a taxi back to the airport! I would greatly recommend the hotel!!!

Me and my friends went to Rome for Spring Break, and we had already seen pictures of the hotel online. Don't be fulled by them, the pictures are deceiving of this so called "hotel". We weren't badly received but as soon as me and my friends got to the room we got really bad first impressions, the room was too...

Hello, I regret in reading this review. As every three stars hotel in Rome we use to change towels and linens every 2 days. Obviously you have forgotten to write that you used our duvets to sit in the commons area and we cannot use them anymore, because we could not understand what you did on it, we can just...

Worst experience of my life! Me and my class and 3 teachers stayed there for 4 nights and since the first night everything went terribly wrong. The hotel is located in a building shared with more 3 hotels. When we got there we wanted to pay for the WiFi since it's not for free and they refused to do it...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
