It is almost 8 months since I visited this hotel, so it could have changed. However it is still my favorite budget hotel (not only in Rome). Location is exellent. Short way from the cental station (with busses and metro). Several good restaurants just outside the door, that is affordable and with italian food. Very nice after a long day...

We booked the Marco Polo Hotel when we arrived they said they are moving us to their sister hotel , Hotel Stella as they where getting refurbished. It was awful very dated , dirty . The room was terrible no towels in the bathroom , no tea coffee making very old and basic . We never even unpacked , reception...

On a positive note, I can say that this hotel was clean. However, tiny smaller than single beds with thin covers, little room to move once populated with two adults and two back packs, a shower head that fell on my head, and towels in the style of table linens (thin cotton, not terry), makes this one place that we...

If your staying in Rome your bound to be exhausted from all the walking and exploring, me and my husband walked for 14 hours one day! Hotel is in a great location easy to get to most places and pick up the sight seeing bus !! So when you arrive back at your hotel all you need is a clean...

Very convenient to the main train station and walking distance to Trevi Fountain and Pantheon in a quiet area. While some have commented on the outdated, scuffed furniture, we found the cleanliness, great shower, helpful staff, excellent free breakfast (on the rooftop!) and terrific price more than compensated. Recommended.

Hotel is in a good location, near train station. It is old and needs some upgrading. Room was clean but small. Had a good breakfast with a variety of choices, yogurt, cereal, fruit and pastries. Some nice restaurants a few blocks away.

Hotel Stella was okay, the location was very convenient for the main train station. The rooms were outdated and the furnishings were starting to look a bit shabby. But it was clean and the front desk staff were very helpful. Breakfast was a good selection of pastries, meat, cheese, yoghurt, and fruit. Nothing special but it was enough food to...

This hotel is run down, close to the railway station but in a bad area, needs a lot of work, the towels in the bathroom were more like tablecloths, would not recommend. They seem to cater mostly for group tours. After here found a great bnb on the other side of railway station. One night is ok.

Great location other than that this Hotel has nothing going for it. Showers are for kids and cleaning is NOT on the agenda ...take a look at your Bathroom vent ( that's if you can see it for dirt ) Rooms lack personality ,no bedside lamp only two celling lights and one dingy picture on the wall .Bathroom was not...

The hotel seemed decent from the entrance and the hallways, but the room was dingy and the bathroom worse. Tiny, tiny shower that had mold/mildew. There was a bar just down the street that was open late and the noise carried right up to our room. The saving grace were the front desk people who were very nice. Breakfast was...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
