Dark room, dingy feel. Front desk just "going through the motions".

We found the Hotel Positano by asking for a recommendation at the Beehive, a Rick Steves' recommended hotel. The location was fantastic, blocks from the Termini train station in Rome, only 5 minutes away from Termini and Metro, , the bedding and linens were clean, the price was right and again, the location was great. The reception staff was friendly...

Very poor condition, smelly and dirty. The power went out about 4 or 5 times at night because it couldnt cope with all the people on the floor using laptops and hair dryers so had to go downstairs (6 floors) to get reception to reset it everytime. Extremely noisy, don't expect to get any sleep, beds are crap, no bedding,...

My friends and I were there for a trip and we have forgotten to lock the door one night. The hostel door couldnt auto-lock from outside and as a result, a thief came in to steal my bag off while I was asleep. I only realised it the next morning. And when u asked the reception what they can do, it...

+ very good location because only 5 minutes away from Termini and Metro + room was clean and had been cleaned up every day; we got new towels every day - tv and lights didn't work - aircondition for heating didn't work, so the first night was horrible after complaining at the reception we got additional blankets and changed the...

Spent two painful nights at the Hotel Positano. The room was dirty, to say the least. The bathrooms were so bad that I waited until going outside and used public toilets instead. I don't think the toilets had ever been cleaned. They had some weird, green growth covering them and smelt discusting. The lift scared me. I was on the top...

The outcome of my overnight stay in a not very clean room at the Hotel Positano, in late November 2008, was 39 bed bug bites. The bedcover had stains, the bathroom mirror light was not working . A request for a refund has so far been ignored.

I missed a flight, and got back to the city centre needing a bed from midnight until 4 am. There's a load of cheap places around Termini statio - first few were completely full (it was almost almost midnight, late on a Saturday evening). Positano had a 3-bed dorm, which had only one person in it. Guy at reception was...

We found the Hotel Positano by asking for a recommendation at the Beehive, a Rick Steves' recommended hotel. The location was fantastic, blocks from the Termini train station in Rome, but the hotel was just average. The room, particularly the bathroom, wasn't the cleanest and smelled strongly of urine. But, the bedding and linens were clean, the price was right...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
