The only good thing about this place is the location. The place was really dirty, even the sheets, and wasn't cleaned once when we were there. The shower didn't drain properly, the toilet wouldn't flush and the place smelt damp. The breakfast was terrible, the packaged pastries were dry and the oranges in the fridge mouldy (no joke). Overall a...

This guest house was conveniently located near Termini, and within walking distance of Colosseum. Rooms were adequate, and there was good wifi and facilities. Breakfast was help yourself, which worked well with our schedule. The kitchen and fridge were very cluttered, and what was offer on breakfast was okay. Considering what we were paying, I would have expected a bit...

I really enjoyed the staying in this property. Very clean, the maid make up the rooms every day, every two days they change towels. The rooms are very nice and modern with air conditioning. Internet free of charge and wireless in each room free of charge. The location is great: 10 minutes walking to the colosseum, 50 m to the...

Once we had arrived there everything was fine and we got our room. We went out in the evening to go for a drink and came back at about half past 11. Suddenly the owner told us that we have to move to another room which was not clean and not as big as the other one. We complained about...

.“The people were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was sort of 'on your own'. They showed us where things were and how the machines worked and we were able to make what we wanted. Private bathroom was nice. Within walking distance of most attractions and near train station.” - The linens leave something to be desired; they are very...

We booked the other B&B but they double-booked so we were asked to go to this 'Magic Place'. It was a terrible dodgy place. A small bug was walking on the wall. The owner was rude and had left our passports inside of his scanner at public space. We couldn't get them back until his enployee found them. In the...

I booked this hotel through booking.com...I was travelling with my family (husband, 3 girls, and parents)...upon arrival in Rome, we walked over to the address listed on our confirmation email. After sitting there for almost 2 hours and asking people around the neighborhood, we found the person that was in charge of our hotel. (The address listed didn't have a...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

“It was difficult to find. The address listed didn't have a sign, phone number or anything. They advertised an elevator, but we only used the stairs because we couldn't figure out the elevator - it was pretty dated.”
