We have stayed at the Beehive three times in the last ten years and will continue to consider it our first choice whenever we visit Rome. It is conveniently located...just a short walk from the railroad station and an easy stroll down Via Cavour to the historic center of Rome. The staff has always been courteous, friendly, and helpful. The...

This is a really lovely place, right in the center of Rome. I was especially happy with the small cafe in the basement - the food was excellent and cheep, and the service quite personal. The rooms are quite good value for the price, considering this is a budget place, and while nothing special in terms of luxuries or such,...

I have stayed in my share of hostels over the years, and have to say that The Beehive is among my very favorites. It was so lovely to return to such a clean, quiet, and cozy haven after a long day of sightseeing around Rome. The hostel provides a desktop computer for guests to use, free wireless internet, and towels...

Review of The Beehive First and foremost: You are a fool if you don't stay at this wonderful hotel/hostel. My friend and I stayed at The Beehive for two nights; May 22 & 23 in the eight-person dorm. The Beehive only has one dorm with four bunks (eight beds) and it is co-ed, but also has a few private rooms....

Found The Beehive on TA and booked nice and early as we were in Roma around Easter and Pope John Paul's beatification. The price was soo good compared with anything else in Rome during this period. Great location, only 5 min walk to Termini station and we were able to walk around all of the main sites (Spanish Steps, Trevi...

We've been to Rome several times and we always end up staying at the Beehive. We say, "maybe we should try someplace different," and then we think for a minute and say, "nah, let's stay at the Beehive." The rooms are comfortable, and clean, and quiet. The staff has always been great. It's a easy walk to the train station....

This was our second stay at the Millefiori apartment of the Beehive. We liked it even better this time as we discovered the wonderful local market, and the metro station just a block away. Last time our whole family took the apartment but this time we shared it with the most interesting people from around the world--Malaysia, Australia and other...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

The Beehive is a cool, stylish, eco-friendly budget hostel/hotel owned by an American couple, Linda & Steve, who came to Rome to follow a dream. In 1999 we packed up our apartment in Los Angeles and, along with our 2 cats moved to Rome and opened The Beehive, a unique cross between a budget hotel and an upscale hostel - a place where you can feel at home. Everything about The Beehive reflects our own personal values and we genuinely want to be helpful and hospitable. We love to share the kind of information that helps you get the most out of your travels. Over the years The Beehive has evolved along with us and our many repeat guests.
