Hostels Alessandro was pretty basic as hostels go. Nothing fancy, and the atmosphere left a little to be desired. However, when I forgot my jacket there, the owner Niccolo was INCREDIBLY helpful - he found it, held it for me, and ultimately mailed it to the states for me! 5/5 for the customer service

We stayed here for a week. The staff were helpful in organising day trips, maps, important sites etc. We booked a private room and bathroom. It was sufficient for us but a bit small. We also had issues with the hot water. The location to Roma Termini was pretty good, although quite a walk to anywhere else.

New year party organized by this place was the worst time spent in my life. A total disaster. First of all expensive, disorganized and on top of that rudeness shown by the organizers. If someone in future plans to spend their new year in Rome don't go with Alessandro Palace. Better find some other disco or pub to spend your...

Do they mean "palace" ironically? Had to stay here because my hostel I was staying at during the week around the corner (the Yellow) was booked up on the weekend. Everything about this place was deplorable: the place smells, the beds are uncomfortable, the front-desk staff are sketchy, the business practices are shady, the social vibe is nonexistent, the lights...

We stayed at this hostel for 4 nights. The beds were comfy, with decent blankets and the room was cleaned daily. We stayed in the apartment block separate from the main hostel so the wifi didn't work which was annoying. We had to go to reception to log on. The hostels in a great location, 5 mins to termini and...

The location was the primary attraction and from that aspect it was ideal. The room was reasonably basic but not unexpectedly so. There was a very nice restaurant next door that hostel customers get discounted breakfasts and evening meals. We didn't try the bar because we had friends staying at the Yellow hostel around the corner and drank there. Having...

Nice clean rooms, great atmosphere, super close location to everything you need. Really close to the Yellow hostel too, which has an even better nightlife. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Only criticism was the wifi was patchy in my room! No kitchen but you can use the sister hostels…. wasnt a deal breaker for me! Would definitely reccommend :)

The street leading from the Termini to the hostel looks terribly seedy and dirty. However, once past that it all is very safe. The hostel is less than five minutes from the Metro so this is enormously convenient. There are also loads of reasonably priced food outlets in the vicinity of the hostel. I stayed in a private room for...

This may have been one of the worst hostels I've stayed. The location was good, close to the main train station. But that was about it. There is no Kitchen, which is a big deal in my opinion. There is no common room to hang out and meet other travelers, just a rather small bar. And my room was in...

The hostel is very nice, and very big also. The rooms are very comfortable, although on mine, there was water on all the floor because of some failure with the bath. But as soon as I complained in reception, they fixed the problem. There is no breakfast room inside, and they do not have coffee or tea for the guests....

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
