We just returned from Rome where we stayed 4 nights at the Montecarlo hotel. Our room was comfortable and we were well taken care of. We arrived a little early for check in and only had to wait in the lounge for maybe 10 minutes before they got a room ready for us. We found the staff very nice to... More

Location was perfect. Easy access to all amenities. good breakfast and great coffee. beds were too hard though. new mattresses needed. If my husband came on this trip he would have had difficulty using the shower! too small.

Within walking distance of the termini station and metro stops. The Beds and pillows were firm. A comfortable nights sleep after a relaxing jacuzzi bath. The breakfast was sufficient offering usual European foods.

The room was clean and well kept, the staff was great. They have secure WiFi. Within walking distance to the train station and the tour company that we used, Grey Line. It is quite at night and secure. There is a little store across the street for snacks and drinks including beer. There is a bar that is open 24... More

I was advised by a friend to stay, he was not wrong, very enjoyable stay of 3 nights. I was lucky to get a double room when I booked a single lovely size of room and bathroom, good breakfast, excellent service by all the staff. My friend got a single room, it was smaller than mine but still very good,... More

Our least favourite hotel. It was very clean. The Room was so small, we could not open our suitcase on the floor. Queen bed took up the whole floor space leaving enough room for a small desk/dresser and steps to Small Bathroom. Tiny Tiny Bathroom. Shower was so small you couldn't move. Because it was clean, we could accept staying... More

I got this hotel as part of a travel package. The hotel is nice enough for what I was going to use it for, sleeping. I expected a king size bed but got two singles pushed together and seeing as I was with my girlfriend this was bothersome. The room was small but very clean with a television (one English... More

We stayed 3 nights at the Montecarlo on a recent trip to Rome & Tuscany. The desk staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and the bathroom functional. The location, near the main railway station, was convenient for us to get to and from the airport.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
