Trastevere is a perfect location for a week in Rome. Narrow streets, charming shops an restaurants, all within walking distance. La Gensola located close to the river Tevere was a perfect place to stay. It was easy to reach the main attractions in Rome, at the same time as it was quiet from big city noise. The apartment was well...

We stayed in the 2 rooms apartment , which has 2 separate bedrooms & bathrooms and a door between then for privacy. Very close to main road and it is possible to cross the bridge and get by foot to Campo di fiori. Very clean. Beds are very comfortable . Luisa is great hostess . Thank you a lot Luisa...

Great location. Spacious with everything you need for a great stay in Rome. Having previously always stayed in hotels, I would recommend this apartment. Close to lovely friendly bars and restaurants, which offer great value.

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the rooms. La Gensola is perfectly situated for exploring Rome. The rooms where first class and beautifull furnished. Some good restaurants where close by. A perfect place to enjoy and explore the culture of Trastevere. A big thanx to Luisa for taking care of us.

We loved the apartment, it's cozy, very well decorated and Luisa, the owner, is very nice. We'll be back. The kitchen is well provided, the heating works perfectly so does the wifi. It's a very nice apartment.

We've now been here twice. The apartment building is modest on the outside, but quite well done and supplied on the inside. It's a very secure building, well located near a tram to get us to Rome or Testaccio, and with a single exception, is a solid place to stay. The exception: It's near an ambulance run, and sirens seem...

We loved our stay here, it was fantastically located in the heart of the city for most things to be walkable, but just away from it enough to not be affected by noise etc. Trastevere was a great place to base yourself to get a feel for Rome, just watch out for loads of touristy restaurants, but also some great...

Beautiful apartment, well equipped. Perfect for our 3-day stay. Very good location, friendly and helpful landlords. An outstanding place to use as a homebase (or: romebase ;-)) for a stay in the city. Highly recommended,

We stayed in La Gensola for 5 nights and really enjoyed it, particularly for the location. Away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas, it was great to retreat to this apartment. Arrival process was great and we were in a hurry to make a tour so didn't get the full run down on how to use...

Great location. Walking distance to all major attractions. Upon arrival, which was confirmed fee days beforehand, we were greated by the cleaner and one very messy/unclean apartment. There is no reception area, so we were taken straight to the apartment. We were told that they were expecting us later that day, but in my email i clearly indicated our time...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
