We stayed at Hotel Santa Maria for 3 nights in May and would not dream of staying anywhere else when we return to Rome. The staff were friendly and professional and the grounds were beautiful with plenty of outdoor seating in shade and sun. We stayed in Room #1 which was tucked away with lots of privacy and our own patio. The location was perfect! A few minutes walk to multiple cafes, restaurants and shops, and walking distance to many historical sights. We highly recommend this little gem for your next visit to Rome.
This was a quaint hotel in the heart of Rome. The breakfasts and Happy hours were a plus, however the mattress and pillows were like laying on a board. I never got a good night's rest. Fortunately we were only there for two days. The atmosphere was wonderful but a restful night's sleep is of a primary concern.
Amazingly peaceful location in the heart of a buzzing district. Great service and very nice rooms around a beautiful courtyard full of citrus trees. The perfect place to return after a day in the heat and bustle of Rome. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Really excellent service by all the staff and the hotel is in a great position. Lovely courtyard and would highly recommend. Would definitely return. The only criticism is that the pillows were awful - really uncomfortable.
Fantastic stay, absolutely would stay here again, the breakfast was amazing. The guy that makes cappuccino‘s paint pictures in the milk. The rooms are cute, they give you free bikes to use, the location is perfect since it is close to where all the food places are.
Hotel Santa Maria was a beautiful, peaceful oasis from the Bella Chaos that is Rome. The staff are great, the rooms clean and the garden seating area wonderful. The Trastevere neighborhood is colorful and full of eateries and artisan shops. The location is a short walk to the Roman forum and other sights.
My family and I spent three nights in this beautiful hotel. We loved our room, we loved our beds, we loved the breakfast, and we loved the staff. The rooms have a lovely Italian style with contemporary updates. We stayed in the senior suite, which had a loft with two single beds for our kids and a queen downstairs. The enclosed private courtyard and rooftop terrace makes you feel like you never want to leave. We always lingered too long in the morning and regretted not returning in time for wine in the courtyard. Leaving the gates puts you right in the middle of Trastevere with cafes, gelato and the sounds of a living city. The staff go out of the way to guide and advise you as needed during your stay. The hotel is a short 10 to 15 minute walk to to Plaza Navona and close to everything.…
Well all we can say is from start to finish everything was brilliant. The hotel is beautiful, clean and the staff were so helpful in every way. They changed the airport transfer at short notice and are just so obliging. It is in a great place to stay and the gardens and terrace are an added bonus. It is an ideal location to explore Rome and returning to the hotel at night there are plenty of bars and restaurants close by. Breakfast and happy hour was great too. We have already recommended the hotel to friends and would definitely stay here again when we return to Rome.
We were delighted by the Hotel Santa Maria! The grounds were beautiful and our room was charming and clean. The staff was so attentive and friendly and they helped us book a cooking class at the last minute. I will definitely be recommending to any friends or family traveling to Rome.
We've just had four nights at the Santa Maria and were very happy with our experience. Although the room was on the small size it was very clean and comfortable with comparable en-suite which provided everything we needed. The day started with a buffet breakfast which was excellent and then it was off to see the sights. You can walk everywhere from the hotel so no need to take metro/taxi's etc. Then back in the evening for happy hour (17:30-19:30 with nibbles) and then out a few steps into vibrant Trastevere (still can't pronounce it properly!) for food of which there is a huge choice. We loved staying at the Santa Maria - I've spent most of my working life staying in hotels but this is one of the best; comfortable, hospitable, and affordable. Don't think Marriott/Hilton etc, think more rustic alpine and you won't be disappointed.…
