You'd never know the hotel is situated in the heart of bustling Trastevere if you were to randomly wake up in this charming, precious spot. The courtyard and roof deck are peaceful, the staff helpful and affable, and the views picturesque. A surprise bonus was having access to the hotel's bicycles (included in the price!). Although I had lived in...

Great place to stay near the city center and excellent restaurants in Trastevere. Walking distance (30 minutes or less) to all the sites. The hotel is beautiful with excellent service. It is not like a traditional chain hotel so no gym etc. but it's charm and location more than make up for that. the staff is very nice, food is...

We stayed at the Hotel Santa Maria because of its location in Trastavere and the reviews on trip advisor. What we found was a little paradise in a beautiful city. Our room was the nicest we have had in Roma and the courtyard was amazing. We will definitely be staying again in the future.

I picked this hotel purely based on the Trip Advisor reviews and it certainly lived up to all praise. A gorgeous little hotel. All the rooms are all set around a beautiful orange grove, in which you can have your (yummy) breakfast or an aperitif in the afternoon. There is also a fantastic little roof garden (surrounded by amazing smelling...

We loved the hidden location of this hotel, although we should have been better prepared to brief the taxi driver who took us there. Great bed and shower. Staff were very helpful, although we had a problem with the wifi router in our room which was not resolved. We loved the happy hour in the sunshine under the orange trees.

We lucked out and stayed away fro Via Veneto etc. trastevere is lovely and handy and the hotel was small, reasonable, and very friendly. Recommend it strongly for older folks. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast buffett and generous happy hour. Not on a main street but just three short blocks away from taxi stand and with several (10+)...

We've stayed multiple times as HSM, and wonder why anyone would stay anywhere else. The location [5 min from river, another 5 to the Pantheon, etc.] can't be beat. The facility is lovingly maintained, safe and secure. We enjoy most of all the quiet of the hotel juxtaposed with the liveliness of the surrounding neighborhood, which is full of restaurants,...

We were here for 7 nights over Easter. Echoing other reviews - location is great, staff were friendly and helpful, room was lovely and clean, breakfast (especially the pastries!) was delicious and happy hour was appreciated at the end of a day of sight seeing. As others have said, it really is an oasis in the middle of Trastevere. We...

Just returned from wonderful 8 night stay. This is a staff and ownership team that truly wants guests to feel at home and enjoy the city. Staff helped with every need from printing directions to making recommendations and booking transit for us. We were at the hotel over Easter and were provided a lovely little basket with some delicious chocolate...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
