We were here for 7 nights over Easter. Echoing other reviews - location is great, staff were friendly and helpful, room was lovely and clean, breakfast (especially the pastries!) was delicious and happy hour was appreciated at the end of a day of sight seeing. As others have said, it really is an oasis in the middle of Trastevere. We...

Just returned from wonderful 8 night stay. This is a staff and ownership team that truly wants guests to feel at home and enjoy the city. Staff helped with every need from printing directions to making recommendations and booking transit for us. We spent 4 full days, and 5 nights at this hotel. Our flight arrived very early and they somehow already had our room ready when we arrived from an overnight flight around 10am! Thank goodness, because we were exhausted. We were greeted by friendly staff that served us cappuccinos and some pastries. It also didn't hurt to walk into this...

We loved this beautiful, quiet oasis in Rome. Rooms are nicely appointed and staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast has a nice variety of choices and we also enjoyed happy hour. Nearby square and cathedral were interesting and historic.

Great location, great surroundings with orange trees in the garden where we ate our breakfast, which was by the way very good and various. Room was very clean and spacious. My husband, teen daughter and I spent 8 nights at this wonderful hotel. We loved everything! The staff is so friendly and helpful. Located on a quiet street in Trastevere, it's within a 30 minute walk to the Vatican, most of the city's tourist sights and lots of restaurants. Rooms surround a lovely garden filled with orange trees. Hotel Santa...

The Hotel Santa Maria is tucked away in a small street with a locked and gated entryway giving a great sense of security in a foreign city. The room was very comfortable and super clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would heartily recommend this hotel to anyone.

If you are a discerning traveller and are particular about the type of hotel you stay in, then look no further, I promise that you will not be disappointed. We had a great stay at the Hotel Santa Maria. We loved the location. Employees were very helpful including recommending Tonarellos for a meal and we ending up eating there all 3 nights we were in Rome. The courtyard area at the hotel was very peaceful. Good breakfast each morning and they accommodated us with breakfast to go one morning...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
