We stayed at the Hotel Sant Anna for three nights, starting on November 12th. We were very happy with our room (a triple), which had lots of room for our pre-cruise luggage. The room was at the front of the hotel, but since the street was primarily pedestrian, it was quiet. Be prepared, though, although plenty big enough, the bed...

A Priest friend told us about this old, quaint, 20 room hotel. The hotel is 3 blocks from the Vatican and St Peter's. Caesar, the hotel manager/concierge, gave us minute details (and maps) for every site we cared to see, and more. He explained the best travel method and what we might see between the more popular sights. Friendly staff...

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
