The hotel is in a beautiful old building with sweeping, sunlit marble staircases. It may have been a monastery or nunnery in earlier days. Unfortunately, the rooms are only adequate at best, rather small and with almost no work space. Furnishings are rather shabby (e.g. linoleum floors with worn patches) and the shower is tiny. Breakfast is minimal and does...

A Hotel with an excellent reach out. Just walking up after the exit you take a good peaceful walk up the Aventino Hill. Across the road is Testaccio with its extraordinary restaurants and trattorie. Close to Circo Massimo and the Colosseo as well. The Hotel offered us excellent service. The breakfast though I must say was Just ok. For an...

This hotel was a nice surprise. Very close to tram and bus stop as well as Metro (Piramide) and railway station and only at short walking distance from the colosseum. The interior is luminous, the staircase has daylight and makes the place airy. The room was small but kept very tidy, the bed comfortable and the bathroom impeccable. Although not...

Clean room, comfortable bed, friendly staff. Every tourist attraction is accessible from here by foot easily. The only problem here is the boring breakfast which was just the same every single day....

I often travel for work to a small town ~10miles southeast of Rome. I picked this hotel because it has a large parking lot and is very easy to get to main roads leading outside the city. This hotel is not in the heart of the tourist district but is an easy ~15 min walk to the Colosseum. The room...

I've never written a review before, but I feel like I owe it to Hotel Santa Prisca to write something. My wife and I loved this place. When we booked our hotels we decided to stay at a low-budget place the first few nights then splurge on something fancier for the end of the trip. We wish we had just...

Our original booking to an another B&B in Testaccio was cancelled and then we found this nice place. Location is perfect, 20 mins walk to the heart of Trastevere, 30 mins walk to Colosseum and 10 mins walk to stations: Metro Piramide and Train Ostiense. Breakfast had serials, bread, cheese, ham, eggs, pastries, yogurth, jam, cappuchino, juices and filtered coffee....

Me and my father stayed here 3 nights. It's walking distance to Forum Romanum, the Vatican etc. There is free parking och free wifi. The service is nothing out of the ordinary, but it's clean and works. The breakfast is an optional if you book through their own site. It's also nothing special and best avoided. It's not too expensive,...

I stayed here for 6 days in July 2013. I was moderately concerned after reading the reviews, but was pleased to find that the hotel and the staff were fine. My room (a double bed room on the 3rd floor) was quiet and well air-conditioned. The bathroom was small but functional (and had a plexiglass shower enclosure, not just curtains)....

Stayed here for a week, very nice room, air-conditioned (very important for summer in Rome!), comfortable bed, quite near to a busy main road and a pre-school but our room was nice and quiet, and friendly and accommodating staff. Best thing about it though is the location, the Colisseum and all that in the centre, Trastevere, Isola di Tiberina, Gianicolo,...

Staying in Aventine

Neighbourhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighbourhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
