This hotel is in a great location to walk to all the many sights of Rome. In three days, we walked to the Vatican(longest, maybe 25 min) to Spanish Steps, Colosseum, Trastevere Piazza Navona, Campo di Fiori(very close)and points in between. The rooms are very clean, compact and the bathroom beautiful but tiny shower. We found the staff to be...

The Smeraldo hotel is located in our favorite section of Rome near our favorite restaurants. It's not showy, fancy, luxurious or even pretty. But, damn they are priced right, and smack in the middle of the best part of Rome (in our opinion). The breakfast is forgettable, so forget it. Go out and explore your part of town for morning...

Stayed here 2 years ago same time and was just as good this time. Great location in old Rome, friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, comfortable bed, decent breakfast, 2 nice rooftop areas. All at a good rate.

Loved the location. All the important sight (other than the Vatican) were walking distance. My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. When we return to Rome, this will be the first place we would consider staying at.

I don't write a lot of reviews but felt I had to write this one because of the negitive reviews I have read about this hotel. We chose this hotel as it was recommended by family who stayed there several years ago. After reading some of the reviews, we almost decided to cancel and book elsewhere. Well, we are very...

The hotel was pretty average. Cramped bedrooms and bathrooms. Breakfast wasn't so great either. Staff wasn't the friendliest we encountered on the trip. But it was decent price in a GREAT location!

We stayed at the Smeraldo Hotel for 5 nights while visiting Rome. The location was perfect. Close to the bus system, the Pantheon and shopping. The room itself was clean and comfortable, although on the small side. The continental breakfast had a good variety of pastries, cheeses, cereal, etc.

We stayed at this hotel at the recommendation a friend who was a longtime resident of Rome and a frequent traveler. He said the hotel was wonderfully located--which it is--and that it was a great value. Charming, family run, with a friendly staff. We booked a room for three nights. Alas, that was not our experience at all. Quite the...

Dear Guest, first of all I am really sorry you didn’t have a pleasant stay at our Hotel. On the other side I must firmly contest the assumptions inside your review. After you left our Hotel – only at 5 p.m. and not in the morning (please allow me to consider it quiet strange regarding your claims) – me and...

We stayed there for six days in late March 2011. The location is wonderful and we could walk to most of the main sights of Rome within half an hour. There are cafe areas very near the hotel. The street was reasonably quiet - one night there was a little noise but shutting the window fixed that. The room was...

Avoid this place if you are not a local. Every single staff member was rude to all tourists, we were greeted with someone demanding an explanation about why we hadn't checked our email in the last few days (I don't know, maybe because I'm on vacation??), the keys to our room were almost thrown at us, the room stunk of...
