I must admit our hesitance to book the Grand Hotel Plaza after reading some lukewarm reviews. Our family that includes two teens, agree that we're glad we took a chance on this property because we truly enjoyed our stay. The location is absolutely 5 stars - the hotel is in short walking distance to the Villa Borghese, Trevi Fountain, Spanish...

Torn between my rating, but to be fair I have given it a 3/5 instead of 2/5. On arrival, the hotel is grand and the reception staff are friendly enough although perhaps a bit snobby. We had a room for 2 adults, 2 children. The rooms were definitely not what we were expecting and a far cry from what we...

This hotel has an old world charm and impressive decor in the ground floor reception area. The location is excellent. On my way back to the airport I passed other hotels on the outskirts of the centre and realised that it would not have been easy to walk to the main sites if I had chosen to stay at some...

I see by the reviews that some think this hotel has passed its heyday, but I found it charming. It has a few quirks, but after a couple hundred years I'd say it has earned those quirks. I, myself am no so spring chicken and not everything works as well as when I was twenty. I'm thinking I will stay...

The hotel is situated right at the main street Via del Corso - most of the attractions i.e. Roman Forum, Colosseum, Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain is easily accessible by foot. The Vatican City is about 20 mins walk from the hotel. Fantastic location! The bedroom was average, bed was not very comfortable. Shower area was very small, but we...

Spent four days at this hotel which does have a great location which is why I suspect they are hugely overcharging for the room. The hotel is old and in serious need of repair. Breakfast was average at best. The lifts smell awful so there must be a drainage problem somewhere. The bedroom is ok in size but the bed...

Save your money. Do not go there. NOTHING is good at this hotel. It is old, smells bad, bathroom is ugly and not clean. Expensive hotel, worst 5 star hotel I ever stayed. We switched rooms. Same thing

This is the most disappointing hotel I've stayed in my 30 years of traveling the world. It's so old and tired that it's depressing. Every carpet in this hotel needs to be replaced. Every single one. Stained, dirty and rippled. The elevators smell like a sewer. This is what first greets you when u arrive. The staff does its best...

Spent a few days this past December with my two teenage daughter, so location is everything to me. Grand Old Hotel, the Lounge is even more breathtaking than in the photos!! All the staff is very friendly and professional. The rooms are fine, nice size, with comfy beds and kept very clean. That having been said, the rooms are nothing...

Staying in Campo Marzio

Neighbourhood Profile
Campo Marzio
From its original role as ancient army training fields to its present-day identity as one of the city’s most desirable neighbourhoods, the Campo Marzio is the best place to get lost in Rome. Gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque palazzos line the streets, and are filled with enticing boutiques and food shops. By day, Rome’s best-dressed denizens criss-cross its streets in a fashionable parade of errands, occasionally pausing to look fabulous in gorgeous piazzas like San Lorenzo in Lucina. Campo Marzio can be a bit of a sleeper after aperitivi hour (21:00), so visit by day and experience the pulse of daytime Rome.
