The accomodations are large and lavish

The spa is great with wonderful female staff

The highlight is the outside courtyard in the rear of the property with outdoor dining in a beautiful setting with wonderful staff
Terraced above the courtyard is the restaurant also outdoors in a spectacular setting with fantastic staff always friendly and accommodating

The concierge staff is exceptional and are flawless and tireless in their excellence

The front doors men and the porters are a warm greeting to those wonderful hotel in a fantastic location where you can walk all over the city to main attractions museums and historical edifices

Neither the hotel nor Rome ever dissapoint

I love to walk in Rome as it is a walking city like New York

Wonderful hotel, the best of our honeymoon. As soon as we arrived, we were already well received by the porters who pick up our bags with a smile !
They were extremely attentive because we were on our honeymoon: they gave us an upgrade and we were also greeted with champagne, chocolate and roses in the room. My luggage had been lost at the airport and they did the whole process to get it back. The best concierges! Special thanks to the concierge Mr. Salvatore. Thanks to Salvatore ( porter) as well. Thanks to everyone that works at this hotel! Our stay was perfect!

I spent a night here with my girlfriend. I would go as far as saying that this is one of the best hotels in the world. First of all the position, between Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Spagna, just a few steps from the most beauitful spots in Rome. Second of all the hotel, while being an historic one, (designed in the early XIX century), is incredibly well kept, which unfortunately is not common for historic hotels in Italy. The interiors and the rooms are beautiful and spacious, luxurious without being baroque, but fresh and luminous.
The inside garden, le Jardin de Russie, is a perfect spot for having a drink or a breakfast.
Unfortunately we couldn't try the Spa as it was closed do to the Covid.
The service was very attentive, with a friendly touch that is very hard to find in other luxury hotels and that made this a unique experience.
Looking forward to come back.

This hotel should be an absolute joy to stay in but sadly for me, it was not. Perfect position and a beautiful classic building with a gorgeous garden but it ends there.
Starting at $1,000 AUD per night, this hotel is very expensive to stay and rather than receiving a warm welcome most staff are snobby and aloof. A stark contrast to other hotels I have stayed at in Italy where I always feel welcomed.
Doormen feel more like beggars waiting for tips as you arrive and depart, shuffle you sideways in or out the door when VIP’s arrive at the hotel and never greeted me with a smile as I returned from a walk.
Breakfast was so poor I preferred a coffee and pastry at the local cafe even though I had included breakfast.
Toilet didn’t flush and was not repaired the entire day I was out even though I reported it broken in morning. I needed to leave the room when the repairmen come yet I could not sit in the lounge as VIPs were requiring it.
The cleaning women on my floor however were absolutely lovely.
The negative experiences led me to feel unwelcome and I believe this hotel may be perfect for those needing to impress others with where they book in Rome, but for a private guest like myself looking for a wonderful holiday experience, I would suggest choosing elsewhere.

When it comes to style and location, the Hotel de Russie in Rome is a star. But unfortunately it doesn't always deliver luxury service.

I stayed at the de Russie and had a terrible stay about 4 years ago. I swore I'd never go back but did try it again a year ago and all went well. So I decided to go back again but again problems surfaced.

To begin with the Concierge dropped the ball from the start. I asked for restaurants to be booked prior to my arrival as I knew I'd be there on a weekend during high season. They completely forgot to book the tables and because of that my bookings couldn't be made. After much back and forth where I was treated like an infant being told that it was difficult to get bookings given the time of year -to which I pointed out that I had requested the the reservations in advance- the bookings finally were made. Except they weren't. I would come to find out when I went to the first restaurant that the concierge desk at the hotel had cancelled the reservation! After that I never heard from the concierge to apologise or explain what had happened and I made my own restaurant reservations after that. That is not what I would call good service from a luxury hotel.

Besides that service was spotty... good in things like housekeeping who always had my room made up quickly to average at front of house with unreliable concierge service. I didn't get the warm reception of other Rocco Forte hotels.

The best part was breakfast service. It was excellent, as it always has been at the breakfast. Mario and his team are charming, helpful, and really start your day off on the right foot. This is the de Russie's best experience.

But service in the bar is again challenging. They don't recognise hotel guests and this becomes a problem when waiting to be seated. Their bar also caters to locals which is fine but when you are paying over $1000 a night for a standard room you expect to get welcoming and accommodating service which was hit or miss at best. It also took ages to get drinks.

The rooms were pleasantly decorated, cozy and comfortable though I felt my bathroom needed updating.

Overall I felt things could have felt better. Brighter, warmer, reflecting this beautiful oasis in the middle of a bustling city just outside. Instead it felt like the people outside were nicer than some of the people indoors.

We just returned from 2 weeks in Italy. During our week in Rome, we returned to the lovely Hotel De Russie where we have stayed many times over the years. We just love this hotel. It has the feel of a smaller, boutique hotel, with all of the service of a true 5 star.

We had a lovely Garden View Suite which gave us daily views into the "Secret Garden", fresh air, the sound of birds and the scent of flowers and herbs. They upgraded our room for us and it was quite roomy, with a beautiful decor and colors that made it feel like the garden came indoors.

One of the many fabulous things about this hotel is their wonderful breakfast. Not only is it set in a gorgeous room with high ceilings and lovely art (or you may sit and dine al fresco) the food is amazing with a huge selection of fruits, yogurts, muesli, smoked meats and fish, salad, breads and rolls and of course pastries to die for. There is also a menu of items that may be ordered from. And of course, there is Mario, who welcomed us each morning, and made us feel like a part of the family.

My husband has a lot of allergies along with major back problems. The staff at the De Russie always take great care to make sure all of our requests are met if possible. Our special cleaning requests and request for bleach free towels and sheets were well noted. Normally we travel with towels and sheets for him...just in case. However, he did not need them during our stay as De Russie used vinegar and water and low scent products and he did not have any adverse reaction.

Their spa is lovely with a salt water pool, steam and sauna which we took advantage of daily. And their gym, while small, allows for one to work off the calories of all of the wonderful food. Danilo the trainor is available for workouts and to answer questions. If you like to pamper yourself, their many spa treatments will do the trick.

I would like to thank the entire Hotel De Russie staff for taking such wonderful care of us and for their friendly and accommodating attitude, from the door people and cleaning staff to the front desk and concierge. Everyone was outstanding.

Thank you for another wonderful stay and we look forward to next year's return.

Debbie & Darin S.

Stuck in the Uk, having not seen family for nearly 2 years now, a 50th wedding anniversary of my partner's parents (who live in Rome) on the horizon... 2 days before the big day, we contacted the hotel hoping to some how organise and pay for a nice evening for them there as we love the hotel. It could not have been easier. The website showed the exquisite garden restaurant as fully booked but a quick call to the restaurant and a table was booked. We paid for a 4 course meal voucher on line and an extra voucher to purchase celebratory drinks. The restaurant gifted them a cake with a message from us on top. They had a wonderful time, under the circumstances, celebrating together in a heavenly garden in the centre of Rome with wonderful food and the best service they have ever encountered. Thank you to everyone at Hotel de Russie. I wouldn't expect anything less from the family of Alex Polizzi and her mother Olga's design the garden is breathtaking. Location the best, there's a reason Mr Clooney loves to stay here. It's wonderful.

I'd been looking forward to visiting this property for years and was expecting better. True, the gym and pool are under renovation so i was upset paying top dollar and not having facilities I expected to be available; nobody warned me about the renovations. There is a temporary gym but it is pretty small. There is a sister property a mile away above the spanish steps with a decent gym but that's a project. The idea of a good hotel is that it's right there. Anyway, I'm told the pool is really a wading pool and you can't swim in it, so that's useless.
I had a suite but i wasn't upgraded and what I had was pretty dark and tight. There wasn't any extra room to move around in the suite or even to do a pushup in the bedroom. There was no wow factor in it and not much in the way of treats on arrival aside from some pieces of whole fruit and a mix of cheese and nuts. The room itself was fine and functional.
Dinner was boring. Out of our 4 day trip, it was the least interesting meal. We had a fish, pasta and desert, and it was just food on a plate. Breakfast buffet was better; the morning maitre'd is an engaging character and a "keeper" for this hotel. I'd say having him seat you in the morning was the highlight of our hotel experience. I couldn't get a newspaper over 2 days after they ran out of papers at breakfast (the valet offered to go out and buy one on the street but I didn't ask him to do that). This hotel doesn't have any rooftop views and the rooms probably have no views either. The location is good; there is a big square with a taxi stand nearby; this helps since there is no metro station right around there. You can get to main shopping streets and the Spanish steps within a few minutes walk. There is also an ATM attached to a bank about a block or so away. That's a big deal because bank ATM's have become rare in Rome.
All in all, this hotel is a regulation 5-star property, but I thought it had zero wow factor and they didn't do anything to try and impress me. Contrast this place to the Bulgari hotel and it's no contest. I wouldn't come back here.

My wife and I are avid travelers who enjoy exploring various destinations and experiencing different hotels each year. We chose Russie for our last days in Italy to celebrate my wife's birthday, expecting a top-tier hotel experience.

Firstly, I must highlight the exceptional staff at Russie. From the moment we arrived, their professionalism, warmth, and dedication to making our stay memorable were evident. They were not only well-trained but also genuinely polite and eager to assist in any way possible.

While waiting for our room, we enjoyed a drink and delicious appetizers at the bar, where the service was not just good, but outstanding.

However, when we entered our initial room, we were initially disappointed. Considering the hotel's steep price tag of nearly $2,000 per night, we had high expectations. Unfortunately, our room fell short. It was small with inadequate bedside tables, lacked essential amenities like a cell phone USB charger or socket. The shower leaked, creating a slippery hazard, and the robe provided didn't fit me. The bed was also smaller than usual for the category of hotel, and we could feel the gap between the two mattresses. Surprisingly, there was not even a simple thing like a Espresso machine, which is typically standard in hotels of this category or even lower. Overall, it felt like the room was designed for a single occupant rather than two. The only redeeming feature was the balcony.

After a disappointing first night, we voiced our concerns to the staff, and to our delight, they relocated us to an exceptional suite (room 335) that exceeded our expectations. The staff's responsiveness and commitment to ensuring our comfort truly impressed us, and we greatly appreciated this gesture.

I must commend the fantastic breakfast and the exceptional staff in the breakfast area. The level of service and the quality of the food were both outstanding.

Overall, my final experience at Russie was nothing short of fantastic, thanks in large part to the exceptional staff who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. However, I must admit that some of the rooms may not justify their high price.

This is a very small spa. There is no swimming pool. You would have to come right out of the spa to get any refreshment other than tea or water. It is a bit claustrophobic as there are no windows or views of other areas. I would look further if I were you.
