After seeing all the photos of the lobby, the tales of good service and the good location I decided to book a room at this hotel. Upon arrival I was greeted very well by the doorman and the checkin was very friendly and was a breeze. However you realise that this is a small hotel and some of the decor... More

Within an hour of arriving at Hotel Splendide, we had a tour scheduled. When the taxi arrivied the driver quoted us a price of 50Euro. I asked the hotel bellman if this could be correct, it was so high. He concurred, that was the fixed price, so I bit the bullet and paid. The return trip, same route, was 7... More

I found the rooms and decor of the Hotel quite outdated and not up to a 4-5 star standard. They do have a nice roof terrace though from where you can view some of the many sights of Roma and it's nice to start the day with a decent breakfast overlooking beautiful Rome. Beware when booking through the concierge. The... More

Dear Guest, I disagree with your comment defined the Splendide outdated without any details in reference in your review. The hotel have been inaugurated in 2001 and completely renovated in a 18 century palace that was a formely monastery. The style is a typical Barroque nothing to match of course a contemporary style, all the furniture are real antiques and... More

I stayed at this hotel in September 2008 so this is rather a retrospective review so I'll keep it short! The hotel is beautifully furnished and the staff were extremely polite and attentive. We stayed in a standard room which did not have any view as it looked onto the central area of the hotel which was a bit disappointing,... More

Dear Guest, I regret to learn that you found our Hotel and particularly our restaurant expensive, just for your information September is in the peak of the high season in Rome and our Hotel rated 5 stars is offering the same conditions. Beside that our Mirabelle restaurant that you have enjoyed for view and service is awarded with a Michelin... More

My three daughters took me to Rome for my 70th birthday, the hotel was a complete suprise, although I knew we were staying in Rome. I cannot be to great in my praise for this hotel. The staff were helpful and curtious. The rooms spacious, comfortable and immaculate. Breakfast, there was a wide choice of both hot and cold. Thank... More

My husband and I were in Rome from this past October. Before each trip, I always consult Tripadvisor to read the comments on hotels we are considering. We were originally booked at a hotel by the Spanish Steps, but changed our minds a few weeks before our trip due to current very negative remarks on TripAdvisor. I cannot tell you... More

We stayed at the Splendide Royal for the last few days of our two week vacation in Italy. The location is very convenient, a block or so from Via Venetto. The hotel was the ultimate in luxury! The lobby and sitting room were gorgeous, with beautiful furniture and always immaculate. The front desk helped us with anything we needed -... More

This hotel had 5 star prices and is NOT a 5 star hotel! We had booked one suite and one std room. Suite was fairly spacious and had a nice terrace but the compliments end there. Staff was indifferent to us and the Concierge was not helpful with finding suitable restaurants either in the neighborhood or for a Sunday evening.... More

this hotel was the epitomy of what "Rome" should be. This boutique hotel was spectacular. The rooms were absolutely breath taking, the location was perfect. On top of this the staff is extremely helpful. This is my number one hotel in the world and I've been to many!!

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighbourhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighbourhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 20:00.
