By all accounts the hotel was clean and orderly, however, the rating and price do not match the experience. An entire side of the hotel lacked a view other than an alley or building despite advertising breathtaking vantages. Unfortunately, only the front desk staff could speak languages other than Italian, and when they did, it was somewhat challenging to communicate...

We stayed at this hotel during our recent visit to Italy. While the hotel and rooms are very nice, we found the service to be very stuffy, and we had a very bad experience at breakfast. We thought the breakfast was included with the room, but to our chagrin we found that our coffee & pastry cost 33 Euros (about...

Dear Guest, we regret to hear from you that your experience at the Splendide wasn't satisfactory. We are surprised that you weren't aware that your reservation rate doesn't include breakfast. The Splendide offers two kind of rates, a promotional one including breakfast called promo bed&breaksfast and a another one room only called best available rate, you can find both on...

The nice sized room was ready early when we arrived from the airport. The room was nicely furnished, quiet, and the maid service was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is very well located. They arranged for a tour for 6 of us with Roberto and it was great. The conceirge was just ok. We would definitly...

Our family (husband and I, 19yr. old daughter) stayed in the suite overlooking the gardens. The room was spacious (considering European standards), very quiet and tastefully decorated and the house-keeping was impeccable. We were a little disappointed when the gentlemen at the concierage told us to take a cab in response to our inquiry about buses going to the Catacombs;...

My wife and I spent a delightful week at the Splendide this spring. The service, amenities, location and staff were all first rate. The room was spacious enough by European standards, tastefully appointed, and spotlessly clean. The staff were universally helpful and pleasant. Not a grump in the bunch. The breakfast buffets were, while essentially the same every morning, were excellent with...

Being our first trip to Rome we weren't really sure what we were getting, but after doing a ton of research of reviews we changed our reservation from another Rome 4-star hotel to the Splendide Royal. Traveling the end of July in Rome is not the ideal time of year--real hot; coming from Florida, that wasn't a concern. But, the...

This was our first trip to Rome, Italy and found the Splendide Royal hotel online. It is a gorgeous boutique hotel in a great neighbourhood with shopping and restaurants. Within walking distance to some of the tourist sights and short cab ride to Vatican and Collesium. The front desk staff are all friendly and always available to help with making...

The Hotel is very nice, beautiful rooms and the staff is very helpful. We tried the restaurant on the top floor which should be one of the best in town, but we had very bad service there and the food was not very good. Too complicate menu, too expensive and not very tasty. The view from the restaurant is amazing....but...

Our stay at the Splendide Royal was quite simply flawless. The hotel is stunningly beautiful; the decor is a little more lavishly Italian than my own personal taste tends to be, but everything is absolutely gorgeous. For being in a reasonably old building, I was amazed at how new everything was, from the sumptuous carpets, wall paper, and drapes to...

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighbourhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighbourhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 20:00.
