Horrible place with terrible & rude staff. Zero service, dirty rooms, no heat, no normal breakfast, no normal service. Especially I’m dissappinted with rude staff, who always talked to us with unfreandly voice and face and who thew us out after checkout from hotel lobby while we were waiting for our friends to checkout. We tried to explain but he didnt rven listened, he even said he will call the police, which is ridicilous and funny, because we were his guest a few hours ago. Last morning another guy was very rude in the restaurant.. and I can go on…. Not recommended:) There better places to stay and enjoy your journey and dont let not cool and cultureless people to disrupt you the whole voyage.

Stayed here for 7 nights. Very nice hotel with friendly staff. Room was small but very clean though the pillows were a little hard. Excellent breakfast and a good menu choice available in the restaurant in the evening. Conveniently close to metro and bus services. The hotel is situated in a residential area with a walking distance to the Vatican City of around 30mins. Nice collection of Vespa scooters in the hotel foyer. Really enjoyed our stay.

Very disappointed with this whole experience. The staff were not very welcoming and spoke in very stern tone of voice and attitude. They didn’t say hello or smile and really showed no care. 1/5 The room was very clean however the furniture was very worn and damaged as well as very old style. The bed is very big and was comfortable so a comfortable nights sleep was there. The bathroom was also clean and provided a lot of nice bathroom amenities. Old and dated furniture comfortable. 3/5 The facilities are a joke. We wanted to use the sauna and it was all turned off, the actual area itself wasn’t very clean or well kept as well as very very old pieces of equipment and upholstery. The gym is very cramped no space for an actual proper workout and not potable water drinking station. 0/5 The breakfast was ok. There was a nice selection of juices and coffee but there is only one machine for the whole breakfast room. The coffee bean used were very nice and smooth. The hot selection consisted of bacon, cocktail sausages and scrambled eggs which was nice especially the Italian spices station to help season the hot food. A very nice selection of pastries as well as fruit and nuts selection. Basic selection of bread but it had a decent variety of food to choose from. 4/5 The terrace is a trap. The hotel brand a lounge at the top of the hotel with a view of St Peter’s Basilica. Yes there is a terrace but from one small square of the terrace can you actually see the Basilica. Apart from that, there’s no evening lighting and the furniture needs a big refurb. 1/5

This is a lovely hotel, very clean and breakfast and dinner are very reasonable, and the staff are very helpful. It is a little bit of a walk from the vatican but ts in a great location for all transport links to easily get around the city I would recommend buying the 72hour ticket to travel on all the travel around.

Dear readers, as the title suggests, please do not book or stay at this hotel. We booked the hotel for a family of 4 when we went on a tour of Italy. We paid Euros 270 for one night stay. First of all, the room AC was not working at all and when asked for another room, we were refused and provided a small table top fan which hardly helped. The passage entrance light inside the room was not working, the bathroom sink was not draining water and there was hardly any hot water coming in the bathroom. In spite of all of this, they insisted that we pay the full amount on checkout instead of giving the refund for the stay. When I complained in writing later, the Manager came back nearly after 12 days with an attitude mentioning that they would not refund the money for failed service and also challenging me that if I write a report on TripAdvisor, he will let his legal people involved. This kind of attitude is very arrogant to hotel managers who are supposed to excel in Customer service skills and to honor customer complaints. I have escalated the issue with the Credit card company, my travel agent as well as Trafalgar, the tour company. Please do not stay at this hotel and inform your friends and well wishers.

Response from Angelo C, Direttore generale at Grand Hotel Tiberio
Responded 17 Aug 2023
Hello Dear People reading about Grand Hotel Tiberio, Stay at Grand Hotel Tiberio, many people as you can read on the main websites (besides TripAdivisor) to book Hotels have different opinion and they gave us good review. About this review, First of all A/C was working in the Guest room, it was 23/24 Celsius degrees, in Rome by the law we can’t have temperature like 20 Celsius degrees as the Guest was asking … there is a central system that controls this for environment regulation as we try to save energy and our planet from the Climate changes, the standard in other countries may be different as they have different policy, all the little problems he says there were in the room were solved few minutes after there were reported. He never asked to change room, we always do it if you ask, it's easy! The Guest stayed 3 nights, first 2 prepaid and the 3th one added during the stay … I guess you don’t stay in a Hotel one more night if you don’t like it or a/c is not working … This person wrote me an email saying: “Unless you provide me the compensation for all the inconvenience caused, I plan to report this on the media as the Senior reporter of Trip Advisor which is my duty and I am sure how this news on social media might affect your reputation in the market”. So you can judge yourself this message … in my opinion is not a nice way to ask for something ... We try to do our best to make the experience the best possible and if there is an issue, we solve it. I never said such things that Mr. vjdante is saying about me ( The Manager ) … He is just upset with me because he didn’t get what he wanted … a total refund, for no acceptable reasons… Thank you very much for the trust you can give to us. The Manager

Staff were friendly, but hotel rooms were old, tired and dusty. Rooms 2* at best. Breakfast was average. Very expensive for the type of accomodation on offer. If you book transport vis hotel be aware of a commission charge if you pay for the taxi by card. Metro is a good 15 min walk from hotel but once at the station really easy to get about and see all the key sights.

I don’t know why this hotel would get a rating of anything more than a 2. It’s basic, or worse. Shower leaks so that your whole bathroom floor gets wet. Scuff marks everywhere. No mattress covers!!!! It’s only a sheet that separates you from the mattress. Gross. Waiter in the restaurant was very rude. I would never stay here again, even if I was paid to.

Pros - firm but comfortable beds, just around the corner from a train station so you don't have to walk all the way in to Rome, nice having a pool and garden. Cons - breakfast was dire. Coffee was undrinkable out of a machine, orange juice tasted reconstituted. Evening meal was also poor quality and over priced. Arranged collection from the airport through the hotel. Chap turned up an hour late, couldn't get hold of anyone initially to find out what was going on. Arranged to pay by card, but claimed his card machine was broken but turned out he charged us Euro 79, which according to the sign in the hotel lobby was the credit card cost. Should have saved our money and got the train from the airport to the station just around the corner.

Beds very firm as well as the pillows. The Free Breakfast is as good as you will ever get in any hotel with a wide variety of pastries, cereals, meats, eggs etc. The restaurant manager goes above and beyond and provides stellar service to the hotel guests unlike most of the front desk clerks. The dinners are just okay but there are plenty of little cafes within walking distance of the hotel and we always felt safe in this neighborhood. **BEWARE, They turn off ALL Air Conditioning at midnight every night! This makes for a very uncomfortable night’s sleep as temperatures rise during the summer months. That in itself would probably keep me from coming back although the hotel itself is beautiful.

Summary: 1) Paid for a suite with separate beds, was rudely told if there are only 2 people they get a suite with one bed 2) Was told there was a normal room available with separate beds for the first night, then told there wasnt, was finally given this normal room for the first night 3) Was given an exemption from the city tourist tax due to the inconvenience caused (hotwire website was not clear on this as stated "due at check in 0.00" underneath which was **This hotel charges a resort fee which you pay at the hotel directly. It isnt included in the hotwire total) 4) Never received an apology for all the inconvenience caused NB I have read many of the previous reviews and have noted on 2 occasions the response from the hotel these two negative reviews has been to call the customer an outright liar, thus I am not expecting any form of an apology just like I never received in person. I booked the hotel via the hotwire secret hotel feature and specifically selected a room/suite which had two separate beds as I was with my adult niece, paying more for this compared to a suite with just a double bed. On arrival at the reception I sought clarification that the suite had separate beds, to be told that it didnt and that as there are only two of us I will be given a suite with just one bed. The man spoke rudely and insisted there were no suites available with separate beds, only a normal room with separate beds. I showed him my email of the booking which clearly showed I had booked a suite with separate beds. He then said that for the first night I would have to share a bed and from the second night onwards I would have the suite with separate beds. I asked to just have the normal room with separate beds for the first night, which he then said was not available, even though he had just told me a few minutes earlier that it was available. He then managed to allocate me a normal room with separate beds for the first night and from the second night onwards I was given what was called a suite with separate beds. The manager said I would be exempt from paying the city tax (6€ per person per night for this hotel) due to not having a suite on my first night. Apart from the above, the rest of the staff were lovely, especially the bar staff. The hotel itself is nice, and as the manager said the whole issue could have been resolved had the initial worker just simply put an extra bed in the suite I was originally allocated. Picture of the suite I was given attached. Please note there was a little balcony which I forgot to take a picture off.
