All Italian cities charge a per capita tax on hotel visitors, the rate varying by city. On departure Gioberti charged us 6 Euros per person per night, but we subsequently discovered that it should have been 3.5 Euros. Hotel is undergoing much-needed improvements which means it will remain shrouded in scaffolding until late 2017. Bedrooms are consequently dark although of...

Very centrally located right next door to the termini, staff speak English very well and are very very helpful. The hotel is on the older side and our hot water was tepid at best, the breakfast is good but get there early or you will have limited choices. Currently undergoing a facelift so scaffolding all over the outside but the...

So, as the title suggests, I really liked the staff at this hotel, they were warm and welcoming, efficient in the breakfast room and the room was clean. We booked this hotel after a fraught few hours looking at various deals, unfortunately we didn't check the reviews otherwise we probably wouldn't have booked it! Our room was very small, and...

Booked this hotel after much deliberation and reading reviews, my and my girlfriend dismissed the bad reviews and looked more to the positive ones hoping we would get lucky! Oh how wrong we was, I'm not sure who gave this 4 stars but they need to re visit the hotel. The main entrance was under scaffolding which didn't give you...

The room was large enough and the bathroom was nice. The tub was deep enough to soak in so after miles of walking it was welcome. The breakfast is adequate with the pastries being the best part. The neighborhood is a little noisy at night so take some cotton for your ears if you are a light sleeper.

Stayed here for 4 nights. We received a friendly welcome and the staff were helpful, ready to assist with our queries. Our room was very nice and spacious with a bath and shower. However, as it was at the front, there was a lot of road noise. The hotel is about a 2 minute walk from the train station.

I have slept in this hotel only for a night (luckily). I was coming back from one of my travels and decided to spend a night in Rome, as close as possible to the station. The hotel welcome hall reminded me of "the Shining". The room was Terrible! Dirty, messy, and many things were broken. as it a 2 star...

I can not see how this hotel is a 4 star. However, I stayed in a standard room, and it looks like the more superior rooms have been renovated going by the photos on the website. My room unfortunately showed signs of wear and tear. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls. My room had a moldy aroma to it. I...

This accommodation is basic, but very affordable, and a great location. Clean and tidy, but the rooms are quite small. Service was excellent, and great free wifi. Perfect for people traveling on a budget!

Yes the hotel is old , run down, in not so great local area. Colliseum was 1500m away 20 mins walk downhill The room was OK , overlooked noisy stree (...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
