We (2 adults & 2 children aged 13&15) stayed at the Guest Haus Praetorium In July 2016. Emiliano was fantastic and very helpful with directions, told us which buses to catch, where to eat etc. Shower could be a bit hotter and a bit more powerful, but not a real issue. Did have trouble with the shower head, but reported...

This was a budget stay but it did not disappoint. The room with en suite shower/toilet was basic but spotlessly clean. Beds were very comfortable. Shower could be a bit hotter and be a little more powerful, but it was not a real issue. Location was fab for travelling to tourist destinations from Termini. Our host, Emiliano, was amazingly helpful....

Praetorium guest house is charming! Perfect location right by the train station, lovely owners, clean and comfortable. You couldn't ask for anything more from a hostel in Rome. Emiliano looked after us so well, very kind and relaxed he told us which buses to catch and where to eat. Praetorium made the stay in this beautiful city even more special!...

We really enjoyed our stay in Rome and Guest Haus Praetorium! The hotel was cute and tidy and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. It's really close to the main railway station and all main sights are easy to reach. There are many restaurants right around the corner, but the hotel is still quiet at...

We stayed for 4 nights and had a very good experience. The owner, Emiliano, is very kind and went out of his way to help us on more than one occasion throughout our stay. It is in a very convenient location, just steps away from Termini station, so it was easy to take the train straight down from/back to the...

We loved our stay here - the host was very welcoming towards us and gave us a lot of tips and information. We were given our own bathroom which was great and there was AC in the room too! The place is right next to the metro so couldn't of been easier! Breakfast was always plentiful and lovely too.

Although my friend and I only stayed for a night, we loved our stay here. Emilianno was so friendly and helpful, he gave us a map and explained everything we needed to know. The room itself was great- the air conditioning worked well and everything was very clean.

The host was great! We were given a map and instructed which metro lines to take where. We were then shown to our rooms and bathroom. The bathroom had towels and shampoo and conditioner which we did not expect! Breakfast was yoghurt and packed muffins with cream inside which were really tasty! Breakfast also included juice and fresh coffee via...

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo may look all street with its pulse in urban art and street food, but don’t be fooled. This gritty student neighbourhood immediately east of Termini train station is on the avant-garde rise. Art galleries, curated mural projects by artists like Rome’s favorite Alice, charming cafes, and boutique restaurants are slowly infiltrating the streets of San Lorenzo with counter-culture chic. Don’t worry, San Lorenzo still retains its local vibe with weekend festivals and demonstrations, and is always a hub for Rome’s university student scene.

“The blue room (Via dei Mille side) was spacious but others may be bothered by the noise at the cafe below. The double rooms are located in front (Castro Pretorio) and more quiet at night when the windows are shut. Regardless of which part in Rome you stay, be prepared for the constant noise of sirens.”
