What a lovely hotel with character and helpful staff. The room was very clean and serviced daily, the staff on reception were helpful with recommendations and directions. My gold star goes to the incredible ladies in the breakfast room they were constantly topping up the buffet food plates as they got low and clearing the tables quickly as guests had finished on a couple of mornings we were lucky enough to dine out on the terrace in the beautiful sunshine, thank you Liezel and the other lady whose name escapes me for making our stay special.

I had a great stay at Hotel Astrid for 3 days. The hotel itself is elegant with a marble foyer and staircase.

My room was very clean with a beautifully fitted out compact bathroom. Toiletries were replenished everyday plus the tea and coffee sachets. The bed had a good mattress and I slept well, no surroundings noise or loud bars.

The breakfast was copious with a good selection of sweet and savoury choices- as much as you want. Lovely croissants! The breakfast room overlooks the Tiber and is light and airy.

As my plane arrived late, I emailed the reception team in advance requesting a taxi pickup at Fiumicino. This was done efficiently and courteously. All staff were polite and helpful.

The hotel is well connected with buses; within 5 mins walk, the circular no.2 goes regularly to the Flaminio metro station (10 mins approx) from where the centre is easily accessible eg. 10 mins to the Vatican stop. As a single female traveller I felt safe walking from the bus stop after dark. Flaminia is a pleasant neighbourhood with good amenities.
I would stay here again, it was a fair price with breakfast included - grazie a tutti!

-The air conditioning wasn't working in the room. This was the case with the rooms of many others in our entourage.
Those who were the first ones to complain about the dead aircon could get replacement rooms on level 3, very close to some kind of party hall where the Aircon was working. Many others had to make do with keeping the windows open. The sound of street traffic in the mornings can wake you up.

One suspects that keeping the aircons off is a common occurrence now due to the hike in energy costs Europe wide. They didn't tell us that, but it's an educated guess.

There's a mini super market below the hotel which is quite handy which may have better options for breakfast meals that what the hotel may provide.

Trams are a minute aw

There is a 4 Euro per day city tourist tax which is payable at checkout.

We have used Best Western many times over the years and tend to use hotel chains as they are usually a uniform standard and a reliable bet. Check in was efficient and polite and the lift to our room was a little slow (there is only 1 lift, and only big enough for 2 people with luggage), however our room was probably the smallest room we have ever stayed in (rather strange as the hotel corridors are as wide as avenues!) A small double bed squeezed into an alcove with barely 12 inches on either side. The room facilities stated that tea/coffee facilities were provided, however, paper cups, in this day and age were an insult, but as there was only 1 teabag and no milk I fail to see why they bothered. There is a small breakfast room on the 5th floor, but no other facilities. The hotel is a fair walk from the centre but close enough to the metro. The immediate neighbourhood had several eateries to choose from and a well stocked supermarket next door. Overall, it was very disappointing for Best Western

If I had written this right after our stay, I'd have said Worst Western as it certainly wasn't up to scratch.
Let's start with location. Near the historic centre it definitely is not. We either took tram and metro, or walked and got the bus. Once in town, we stayed in as it certainly isn't a place you can nip back to. A stone's throw from the Piazza de Popolo? I don't know many who can throw a stone a mile. Take the tram.
The area is just a suburb off Rome. Nothing interesting. I do recommend the nearby Casa des Gusto restaurant nearby though.
The rooms. Well, ours looked nice but was noisy as they do not have double doors, or carpets in the corridor so you can hear clearly when you get noisy people arriving back at all times of the night. The real fun was the shower which was broken, and had obviously been so for some time. I made the point in the morning, but in the evening g found nothing had been done and nothing noted. The lovely lady at the desk did manage to find another room, but one in severe need of redoing and with twin beds rather than the double. The shower worked, but the cubicle was tiny. Certainly a poor two star. During our stay, they obviously did not want to bring in a plumber.
Breakfast room has nice views and the staff were lovely. The actual breakfast is standard industrial produce with uninteresting bread.
Reception. The evening lady was lovely and very helpful. In the day they appeared disinterested and do not like criticism. We were promised a discount and just had the city taxes written off, and they were reluctant about that.
Return? Never. The hassle really mucked up my birthday weekend in Rome.

The location of the hotel is ideal for attending an event in the Parco della Musica, it's about a 15-minute walk. It's about an hour's walk to St. Peter's Basilica.
The ladies at breakfast are very friendly, and the coffee from the espresso machine is very good. The selection is small, but includes sweet and savory dishes, and you have a lovely view from the small balcony.
When we arrived at the hotel, it was too early to check in, it was lunchtime and we wanted to leave our luggage at the hotel and go out to eat. The receptionist told us that wasn't possible, we had to take our suitcases with us. However, a room was ready and we were able to check in earlier.
Our room was very small, but we knew that because we had booked late and nothing else was available.
Unfortunately, the double bed was also very narrow and the mattress uncomfortable.

Hotel with great charm. But perfectible. The service is perfect, free mini bar filled every day, nice breakfast with beautiful views. On the bedroom side, the fridge was broken down, and the bathroom showed pronounced wear marks.
The location is just under an hour walk from the city center, 30 min by metro. Nice experience.

Check in was easy, we were there an hour before check in but we're allocated a room quickly and hassle free. The room was a good size and had everything we needed. Had a lovely Juliet balcony which was a nice added bonus. The bathroom had everything that you would need, with complementary toiletries. The shower cubical was fairly small but It wasn't an issue for us. The hotel were able to support us in having a travel plug which we forgot to bring free of charge. All in all a lovely stay.

The hotel wasn’t the best. The pillows itself were all different sizes and not fluffy at all, had to ask for some extra ones which were a bit better. The bed was extra hard and really uncomfortable. One day we didn’t have any hot water for a shower because they were doing some work of which they have failed to inform us. Hotel is really far from the main attractions and the taxis are about €12-15 each way. Not worth it. They also fail to inform you that they come into the room to clean it with no notice. So be prepared if u like to lay in or get back in the afternoon for a shower etc. The only good thing about it was the air con and the mini fridge. I would suggest paying more and staying in city centre.

This will be a rather late reply but hopefully might help another traveller. Yes, there are kettles available in the rooms. I’ve tried googling re transport times, there seem to be quite a bit of detour at the moment. But I’m certain that we took a direct bus, this was just before 10:00 tho Hope this helps
