Stayed for three nights over the weekend of 25th-28th January 2013. Hotel room and bathroom very clean. Staff very helpful and polite, breakfast nice. Our room was at the back of the hotel, looking out towards a church, with a balcony, a very quiet room. We will definitely be staying there again, the location of the hotel is brilliant and...

We had a 4 night break here in January. Great, friendly hotel with Frank the barman standing out. Great cocktails. The hotel is in a fantastic location, near the Termini station, metro station a 2 minute walk away and lots of attractions well within walking distance. The hotel will reccomend going to see 'Massimo' if you ask for somewhere to eat...

The hotel is well located, a few minutes walk from Termini Railway Station, and a 15 minute downhill walk to the Trevi Fountain, shops and restaurants. The high ceilinged  rooms are clean and reasonably spacious. However, the mattress was the hardest I've ever slept on and didn't make for a particularly comfortable nights sleep. The bathroom was small and clean,...

Stayed here for 3 nights in January, overall very good. Great location, easy walk to trevi fountain, metro station yards from front door and very close to termini station. Staff very friendly and helpful, they had plenty of restaurant suggestions too. We had double room on 5th floor facing to rear overlooking church. Wasnt too noisey but i imagine a...

Hotel Mascagni is in a good location, just steps from the Piazza Della Repubblica. The rooms look good, with chic decor and that's about the two best features I can find of it. Otherwise hard beds; temperamental showers with dodgy shower heads; ordinary breakfast; surly staff and no free wifi. At €210 per night (€180 + €30 for a second...

We decided on a last minute holiday for New Year and chose Rome, the Mascagni was one of the few reasonably priced hotels on the travel website along with decent reviews on TA so we decided to book it. We weren't disappointed, the place is clen an and seems like it was recently refurbished. It is small and private with...

We stayed at this hotel December 2012, the rooms are clean and stylish with tea and coffee making facilities. It is in a central location close to the many attractions. The staff were really nice from the reception staff to the waiters serving the breakfast. I would reccomend this hotel.

Fantastic location to all sights, everything in walking distance. Cozy, clean and quiet room but very small bathroom. But very comfortable and spacious bed. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Great place for a short stay in Rome and I certainly will go back.

I have been in Mascagni hotel with my boyfriend during the Christmas and we really enjoyed it. First of all, the hotel is very central- 2 minutes walking from the metro and bus stations. The metro station is called republica and it's one stop from termini which is the most central station in Rome (you can also get to termini...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
