We stayed at the Hotel Cortina in July, 2011. Our stay was amazing. The hotel was in a great location, central to many attractions. The rooms were lovely as well. The only two things we would like to see improved : 1) Breakfast selections could be increased a bit; 2) It would be nice if a cafe was available for...

It was the cheapest hotel I could find that was (sort of) central to everything. The staff were a bit over zealous with the cleaning of the room (I put up the Do Not Disturb sign and they still cleaned the room). But it is a cute little place, basic but homely.

Stayed in 'Apartment A' which is just around the corner from the main hotel. The location is in central Rome off Via Nazionale, fairly close to Termini and just down from Piazza Repubblica with its Metro. Its within walking distance (20-30min) of the historical centre and main attractions or you can catch the bus 100m or so away. The apartment...

My wife and I stayed for one night, we found it an easy 15 minute walking distance from the termini train station and also close to a metro stop. The rooms were average compared to others we stayed at during our tour of Italy and due to a early morning tour did not get to try the breakfast

The hotel is located on the 2nd floor of a building which is on one of the main drags in Rome. It is in a very good location, within walking distance of most sites and very close to the train station. Since our room was on the inside, there was no noise. The room was clean but not very big....

We have only good things to say about our stay here. Very clean, good size room, big bed. Quiet. Comfortable. Air-con. Buffet breakfast had good selection and plenty of it. Staff so friendly and helpful, made us feel very welcome. Angelo encouraged our pitiful attempts at speaking Italian! Good location, we walked everywhere, even to the Vatican which took us...

Hotel Cortina is located about 15 mins walk from Termini station. It is close to the metro and the bus stops. 15 min walk to Spanish Steps and about 20 to the Colosseum. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Rooms are small and bathroom is tiny. Breakfast is adequate. Hotel is clean and in a good location. Rome is quite...

All the staff were fantastic and extremely helpful, especially with helping me track and get my luggage which was delayed for a few days. The room I stayed in was very comfortable, a good size for a single room, has a mini-bar and was always clean. Breakfast was as expected; there was a variety of items offered and served fresh...

Great hotel that we found in Rome from Trip Advisor. We were family with 2 teenage children and the family room sleeping 4 that they had was ideal for us. This hotel has a great location just down from the road from Republicca subway station and the open top bus tours that you can get off and on at any...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
