We spent 3 nights at Hotel Lirico in Rome recently. The location was good - right near Termini train station and definitely walking distance to a lot of sites, shops and restaurants. It was also located next to a supermarket which was very handy. The room itself was very clean and fairly spacious (as was the bathroom). The main issues...

I stayed at the Lirico for 3 nights with my mum (my last weekend away with her before getting married!) and I have to say it was more than adequate! The room, whilst not huge was clean and had everything in it that you'd need - and let's face it, with Rome on your doorstep why would you want to...

We stayed Hotel Lirico over Easter weekend. The room and bathroom were quite nice, of above average quality and large for a European hotel. The TV is in fact free, contrary to a previous review; it's the pay per view films that are 4 euros. Breakfast was average; the same rolls get boring quickly, and the juice is horrible, but...

Just got back from Rome and stayed at Hotel Lirico for a couple of nights. We had a triple room which was very small and cramped. The third bed doubled as a sofa. Beds were hard. Every blanket was stained. As soon as we walked in the room and touched a wall, a big piece of molding fell off the...

I am just back from my first trip to Italy.I stayed in Hotel Lirico for 7 days.I was a lone traveller and as it was my first time in Rome,I needed some help to go around. The staff were perfect in giving help and making necessary reservations.I didn't have any idea of how to go to Florence but they gave me...

My husband and I just returned from our first trip to Rome, having stayed at the Hotel Lirico for two weeks. Aside from the 25 + steps up to the lobby, we found the hotel to be quite adequate for our stay. The location was central enough to tour Rome easily, the rooms were clean and the breakfasts were fine....

This was my third stay at this hotel and I have to say this was the worst experience. It's a good location at a comperable price. When we first arrived there (after a VERY long and arduous flight) we noticed we got the worst room in the place and it was a single room (when we asked for a double)....

The Lirico was a great hotel considering what we paid (50 Euros/night). Spottlessly clean, great housekeeping, good service from the staff and good breakfast. The location is very practical, as it is close to Termini and the Republica Metro station, and within walking distance to all the attractions and restaurants in the historical centre. We were worried that the location...

My wife and I stayed at the Lirico for three nights at the end of November. The room was as expected, very clean, quiet, firm bed, water hot, and fairly small. Location to trains, busses, subway, and sites of interest in Rome was as described. Front desk, especially Tony, was particularly helpful for all our needs as a tourist. Breakfast was more than...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
