My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Lirico for a 3 night break in August and loved it. This hotel is just a short taxi ride from the Airport (cost us about €40 inc a tip) and upon our arrival we were greeted by Tony who was a really nice guy and very helpful. Our room was lovely, clean...

Small, three-story hotel. Room was tiny but adequate for two adult tourists. Double bed w/small table and two chairs. Closet w/safe. Both it and the bathroom were clean. Bathroom had modern hardware. Shower had vinyl doors that opened a forearm's length at a corner. Definitely not for the large person. TV (with remote) on the wall with several channels in...

We stayed at the Hotel Lirico mainly because of the great price and the convenient location. The Termini train station is about a five minute walk from the hotel. Our room was clean and small, but the staff made the stay very enjoyable. The continental breakfast in the morning was good as well. Yes, the immediate perimeter around the train...

we stayed at this hotel and were very happy. Walking distance of the train station and shopping. Close to all of the sites. Small lovely property. Only one drawback: don't accept credit cards. We were hard pressed to get enough cash to pay our bill as we had extended our stay from one night to 4 nights. In the overall...

Great location - only fifteen minutes walk to the Colosseum and to Spanish Steps/Trevi fountain. A minute to Via Nationale where the bus for the Vatican leaves from. Several restaurants around and safe area at night - just far enough away from the train station. The hotel itself is small but very clean and the staff are very helpful and...

First and foremost this Hotel is very Central. You are within walking distance of all of the sights and that is all we really wanted from the Hotel, that and cleanliness. In relation to both points, this Hotel gets a hug thumbs up. The bedroom was small but spotless, as was the Bathroom. It comes equipped with a hairdryer but...

I just had a wonderful stay at the Lirico in the middle on January! We arrived via the Leonardo Express mid-afternoon and our room was available. Yes, there are steps up to the first floor reception (2nd floor to Americans) Check-in was quick and painless. I knew that the internet special I had booked required cash payment. it is plainly...

The room was clean and neat. Breakfast was included. The breakfast room is small but we never had trouble getting a seat. Hotel is very close to the station. I booked the room through their website. When I checked in I was informed that I have to pay for the room with cash only since we were offered promotional rate...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
