You wonder how and who grant 3, 4 or 5 stars to hotels. I stayed at the hotel Mondial for two non consecutive nights, in two different rooms, and still wonder how come it has four stars. It is near the main railway station, ok, and it has an interesting - yet very dark - communal area downstairs; but some...

Great hotel and easy walk to a lot of attractions. Walked easily to the Roman Forum and train station. Clean and modern inside and good elevators. Room was good size and hotel was quiet. Offered breakfast but nothing too fancy. Small bar that did not seem to be utilized. Staff was very helpful and accommodating and would definitely stay there...

clearly i made a mistake. while close to the rome termini as the crow flies, this hotel required a complicated trek over uneven, narrow and pockmarked surfaces with rolling luggage. the staff was efficient and courteous; the room was small but functional. it was quiet at night and the bed was acceptable. the view was non-existent and unlike other reviewers,...

Stayed at this place for 5 nights and glad that we choose this hotel. Close proximity to Termini station which is a train station, bus stop or hop-on hop-off bus, good restaurants just around the corner. We walked to Colosseum, it took us about 25 minutes to get there by walking leisurely. Service is good, helpful staff, rooms are clean and...

Very good location, just 10-15 minute walk from Termini Station and 300 ft to via Nazionale. The hotel is well kept, the room was of decent size, with modern bathroom facilities. Wi-fi was a bit slow. I think they have a parking behind the building. The staff are professional and efficient, but the morning shift (all female) seem to be...

Hotel was easy to find, about a 15 minute walk from Termini train station. Upon arrival the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. The only negative thing I can say is the room was quite hot during the day/evening. Having the window open was a must. The AC did not work( not sure if...

We visited for one night in April. The welcome was efficient but not terribly friendly. The room was large and clean and the bathroom was lovely. However, the room was very hot and the hotel does not switch on the air conditioning until later in the season. We therefore left the window open overnight and didn't get a wink of...

It's my third visit to Rome, a city that needs no introduction. Decided to stay in Hotel Mondial due to its superb location, near termini station and a short walk from Repubblica Metro. The hotel is fine! Good breakfast, free wifi, nice room and a very good bathroom. For my expectations, it was all I needed. However, there some things...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
