Stayed at the Metropole for one night, chose it because of its' close proximity to Termini Station which was a short walk away. The hotel was much nicer than I expected and the room was modern, spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed and nicely decorated. It was also very quiet. Breakfast was okay, not a huge amount of choice but was...

High price and taking the money in advance. It's not true that they make just reservation for the money. No, they take in advance money from the credit card. If you wish to pay cash upon leaving, they will cancel this so called "money reservation" from the credit card. But after that i have to wait appr. 2 weeks. my...

The hotel is ideally situated a short walk from Termini Station, Via Nazionale shopping street and central to all of Rome's key tourist sites. It is quiet, very, very comfortable and extremely well equipped. No street noise permeated our first floor room thanks to the double set of windows. It would be hard to find fault with any aspect of the...

We were at the hotel Oct 29 til Sept 3 6 nights. The hotel is 3 short blocks from the main train station and in an area that could be described as hotel row. The staff is very helpful but not overly friendly. The breakfast staff were the best. We enjoyed setting in the section run by Rennin a half Italian/Chinese...

This hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the Roma Termini train station which is the reason we selected it. We needed to spend a night in Rome on the way to catch our cruise in Civitevecchia. The front desk was extremely welcoming and courteous with directions and checkin. We had a junior suite which was a nice size,...

This is a very comfortable hotel in a great location. I've never been to Rome before but found it easily after getting off the train. The staff were a bit ordinary but otherwise I think this is a really good hotel for the money. The breakfast was too good though. There is already enough good food in Rome without the...

The Hotel is ideally situated within a two minute walk from Termini station. This is also where the tour busses start from which was handy. The staff were extremely courteous and friendly especially when it came to logging on to the free WiFi in the lobby. Our room was perfect with a view of St Peters Basilica. We did not...

A short walk from the Termini was ideal. Staff were friendly and understanding when we requested a move from the 9th floor (air-con noise from roof). Breakfast was eat as much as you can, with lots of choice. A quiet street, it was in walking distance of some tourist areas. Some super eating places in the area.

We recently stayed at the Starhotels Metropole in Rome, Italy and were happy with most aspects of the accommodation. Hotel is close to Termini Station and there are reasonably priced restos close by. The hotel has a modern, boutique vibe with a comfortable bar and lounge area right off the main lobby. Free Wi-Fi (in 30 minute increments) is available...

Great location for station and opera house which was what we wanted. Not far to walk into historic Rome. Breakfast ok, but nothing cooked to order eg omelette. Busy with tour groups and business men and women.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
