This place has real character with art-déco style mostly visible in the lobby and the ground floor bar. Rooms however can be a real lottery. Most are definitely way overpriced, some being tiny and noisy. If you decide to stay here because it was recommended...More
Lovely to see Hotel Locarno remains stylish and now has beautifully renovated rooms - glorious bathrooms, exceptionally comfortable beds and beautiful linens and, of course, large rooms. The courtyard is as lovely as ever and breakfast buffet the perfect, relaxing way to start a day...More
Locarno was once headquarters for the Gestapo in Rome. It hasn't changed much. The rooms seem straight out of the fifties; wallpaper, furniture, bathroom all could be used for a period film. On the other hand it is busy a nice all fresco bar/restaurant and...More
I stayed 3 nights at Locarno. The location is great and the hotel very charming. Unfortunately they were renovation works, which is good as the rooms are getting old especially the bathrooms.
The staff is very nice and helpful especially at the reception counter. They...More

From its original role as ancient army training fields to its present-day identity as one of the city’s most desirable neighbourhoods, the Campo Marzio is the best place to get lost in Rome. Gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque palazzos line the streets, and are filled with enticing boutiques and food shops. By day, Rome’s best-dressed denizens criss-cross its streets in a fashionable parade of errands, occasionally pausing to
look fabulous in gorgeous piazzas like San Lorenzo in Lucina. Campo Marzio can be a bit of a sleeper after aperitivi hour (21:00), so visit by day and experience the pulse of daytime Rome.
When I was here in February there was some refurbishment going on however it was not visible nor noisy. Best to call the hotel and request a room away from wherever the activity may be. Enjoy your stay, SD
