When we arrived at 10pm there was no answer to the bell. There was a man, 'Bernardo', outside who told us that he was there because there was a booking mess up, and that he would find us a new accommodation. Basically, as we found out later on, this hotel is just an apartment in a building and despite us...

My girlfriend and I booked this hotel for 4 nights in Rome. First thing is that there is no sign of any kind telling you there's a hotel there (oh and btw ignore the 'nino' in 'nino bixio', the street is just 'via bixio'), it looks like an apartment complex; b&b old roma is written on one of the 30...

We booked Old Roma knowing it wouldn't be the most luxurious place. We took a taxi from Termini as we did not know where to go. When we got there the Host Bernard reprimanded us for taking a taxi claiming it is a 10 minute walk. Did not want to argue with him as it was late at night. The...

Due to a minor hiccup we arrived later in Rome than expected. Bernard was kind and understanding and said it was no problem. This B&B was actually very easy to find. Google is your best friend. Just look it up in advance and remember on how to walk. I can’t say the B&B is in the cleanest part of Rome,...

Old Roma is located within an apartment block, there is no easily identifiable sign outside the block. We discovered we had found the correct location by asking a resident who arrived purely by chance as we stood outside. The same person admitted us via the communal door. On arrival at the establishment, we received no reply. After twenty minutes of...

I liked it; okay it is not so near to the very center of the city but it has a good value for money; to be near the train station is always a good thing when arriving by train. Mr Bernard is lovely, and kind. The room was very clean and towels were changed every day; daily ceaning as well;the...

I spent three nights at Old Roma B&B and I recommend it if you are looking for a cheap but comfortable accomodation closed to the main station (from which you can easily reach the tourist attractions in Rome by bus and metro) or, as in my case,to the university La Sapienza, which is about 20 minute walk. I booked for...

A very amazing experience! Last week I was in Rome for a three-days trip: the third morning I had just escaped from an unconfortable hotel (even if with "stars"...) where the hosts had just swindled me and finally money-stealed. I was quite deceptioned, when Bernard (the "Old Roma B&B" host) found me in a corner of the street, looking for...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
