Enclosed in fifteen acres of lush Mediterranean parklands, this luxury hotel is a calm retreat in the heart of the Eternal City, an elegant refuge where time slows and hearts quicken. The first hotel in Europe to be part of the exclusive Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, the Rome Cavalieri hotel is more than just a 5–star property. It's the pre-eminent luxury hotel in Rome, with an art collection that outshines many museums, a Grand Spa that would be the envy of a prestige health resort, and standards of luxury that set it apart from other Rome hotels. The Rome Cavalieri brings new meaning to notions of Italian style, and new purpose to the fine art of exclusive hospitality.

The Rome Cavalieri, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel, garners acclaim for its cleanliness and immaculate housekeeping, while the service is generally celebrated for its professionalism despite occasional inconsistencies. While some guests deem the hotel a worthy splurge, others question its value, suggesting it doesn't fully meet luxury expectations. The location offers breathtaking tranquility and views, yet its distance from city attractions draws mixed reactions. The atmosphere is lauded for its art and live music, although the decor in rooms is sometimes seen as outdated. Amenities like the pools and Imperial Lounge are well-regarded, yet with mentions of needed updates and restricted lounge access.

We stayed at the Waldorf after a cruise and could not have been happier. Our room was stunning with a great view. The pool area was gorgeous. The breakfasts and coffee were fantastic. Everyone that works at the Waldorf is wonderful. Dinner was fantastic overlooking the pool.

This is a top notch hotel the service was out standing and I would like to compliment the management on what I term impeccable attention to detail,
Particularly Nicola at Reception who listened and responded immediately to one of my concerns .
As a world traveller I must comment on the buffet breakfast was the best and most comprehensive that I have ever experienced – including squeezing carrots at a fruit station to make fresh carrot juice. Everything else you could think of was available and for €35 per person set you up for the day. The waiting staff were courteous and went the extra mile to to satisfy my requests and were there for 3 nights and the room we were allocated was outstanding in appearance and location with a mirrored privacy balcony screen overlooking the 15 acre gardens anothef first
There was a free air condition shuttle to and from the hotel within walking distance of the Trevi fountain and Spanish steps
I noticed The porters could not do enough to assist guests.
My only gripe would be that the guestroom often experienced a delay in replenishing the tea and coffee station
As a Hilton Diamond Member having stayed over 60 nights in Hilton Hotels this is one of the best

Terence Bartlett .

This style of hotel unfortunately is a 'dying breed' - it is real old style 5 star hotel.

Superb service from the minute you enter to the minute you leave, very efficient indeed.

Great location, easy to get to, parkin g is a little pricey at 35.00 euros per night, if you have a hire car and staying for more than two night, dump the hire car and take a taxi to the airport, you will save a small fortune.

Rooms are excellent, beautiful ben linen, lovely pillows.

Bar and restaurant, all expensive but good value for money, try and wangle an upgrade to an imperial room the extra benefits are worth the money.

I have stayed a few time in the past, very pricey but worth the money

Unfortunately, the negative reviews proved right, the housekeeping was very good, the rest was an imposition and has nothing to do with a 5 star hotel, it starts at the reception and ends with the very unfriendly staff. The breakfast is at most 4 stars level, egg dishes are already ready and taste accordingly, the fruit bar is very sparsely stocked and loveless and tasteless, the coffee comes from the machine, no coffee culture...ordering drinks by the pool is a hygienic super gau
At breakfast they wanted to put us as a family of 4 separately, at dinner not every table is served... the crowning glory was, and I have never experienced this in any hotel, that we not only have to pay more money for the room service to the room (that is quite normal) but that we charge a delivery fee over 8! Euros had to pay. Never seen it before!!! This is also not communicated anywhere, so Llsndet simply on the bill. In general you get the feeling that for each pups is collected extra, which would be ok if it were correspondingly good. At least the staff could be friendly.
In a week's stay, two bottles of water have been refilled once!
Unfortunately, a very disappointing experience here. Very positive is the location of the hotel. You can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and chill out. Unfortunately, there is no non-smoking area in the entire hotel area including pool area. And there is a lot of smoking here, both in the pool area and during the meal. The rooms are in urgent need of renovation, our shower head almost fell off, the toilet was broken. Like I said, just not a 5 star level. Especially from the waldorf astoria you expect more!

We just spent three nights here with friends on a foodie tour and found the hotel experience to be disappointing. We last stayed here in 2008 and I swear the carpet in our room was the same carpet. Seriously. It was faded, tattered and fraying on the edges, and the overall aura of the room was aging not-so-graciously faded blue. The best part about the room is the soundproof door. The towels and linens were average, and our bed was lumpy and sagging in the middle. I finally had to ask them to replace the mattress it was so bad. And that was just the room. The hotel lobby is huge with some fancy shopping but the cavernous lower floor, which is completely empty and frankly weird is where you have to go to get to their underwhelming restaurant. Can you say boring and weirdly located, well it is. The food is decent but the overall dining options in the hotel are limited for dinner (unless you want to drop $500 euros pp for dinner at La Perla) and the fact that you are so far away from the city center makes it even more disappointing to have such poor options. Also, plan on an extra 1/2 hour if you want to get anywhere decent for dinner or sightseeing. The pool looks nice and I'm sure is a big draw but we had no time to lay in the sun and the pool lounge chairs did not even have lounger pads, which is unacceptable. Our main complaint though is how far the Executive Lounge has degraded. The evening "snacks" are terrible and the breakfast is pitiful so do not pay extra for access as it was literally one of the worst european luxury hotel lounges we have ever experienced. Again unacceptable. We had looked forward to our return to what used to be the Grand Dame of Rome hotels but we will not return again as the price-to-value proposition for this aging hotel does not pan out anymore.

This hotel is so incredible, I’m not even sure how to start this review. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome, and the surroundings were magnificent.

Every single member of the staff, from the front desk and concierge, to the people cleaning the rooms and vacuuming the hallways, went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

The hotel itself is like staying in an art gallery. You are surrounded by beautiful paintings, statues, and furniture everywhere you look.

Our room was beautiful, with a balcony and a fantastic view of the city. On Sunday evening, we heard church bells ringing from all over Rome.

The breakfast the hotel offers is very good. It’s reasonably priced, and has a large selection of food to choose from. We also enjoyed sitting in the hotel lobby bar on a couple of evenings, relaxing after a day of sightseeing.

We depended on the concierge staff for restaurant recommendations, because we had never been to the city before. Every place they suggested was great, we didn’t have a bad meal during our trip.

If we are ever go back to Rome, this is definitely the place we will choose to stay.

My husband and I stayed here for our last night after a month long vacation in Italy on May 24 in room 648. We generally stay at Park Hyatts, but decided to give the Waldorf in Rome a try for our last night. We would not come back.

The service:
The service was sub par. We were not informed prior to our arrival that the rooftop restaurant was closed for construction, or that the terrace was closed for a wedding. We went to Uliveto for dinner, and it was a disappointment. We got a 220 euro bottle of wine, but sat with empty glasses for over 15 minutes waiting for the staff to refill them. The pasta dish I ordered had slices of prawns, not full prawns. Overall it was one of the worst dinners we had in Italy.

The grounds:
The entire reason we booked this hotel was for the supposedly amazing view of Rome off the rooftop restaurant and the terrace off the bar. The rooftop restaurant La Pergola was closed for construction, which we did not know when we booked the hotel, and the entire terrace and walking trail off of the pool were also closed for a wedding. Two of the three pools and all of the Moet Chandon bars were not functioning during our stay. What I don’t understand is why a hotel of this caliber would have so little regard for informing their guests of the available services. When I messaged the concierge about this, Danielle responded that she could not get a hold of the manager, but would have “amenities” sent up to our room. We got back from dinner to find a five dollar bottle of Prosecco in the room. Almost an insult given what this hotel charges for a glass of Prosecco…this bottle was of course not even on the menu

The room:
The room was fine. Nicely appointed with Aqua Di Parma toiletries, working air conditioning, and a couple chairs on a balcony even if the view was of a giant crane and traffic.

When you enter the lobby of the Rome Cavalieri it presents itself as a 5 star hotel with the expensive artwork hanging on the walls. You then get to your room and it seems to be a bit dated. Drastic need for usb outlets near night stands. They only offered a clock radio on one side of the bed with a usb outlet. I don’t know the last time the hotel rooms were updated but to be considered in the upper 5 star category they need a make over. This hotel can’t compete with any Four Seasons that I’ve stayed at. One thing the shower pressure is the best I’ve experienced in any hotel.
The breakfast buffet food seemed to be the same quality as any other Hilton buffet in Europe. The buffet staff were excellent.
I ordered a lobster roll at the pool for 39 euro. I basically got a roll and needed a magnifying glass to find the lobster. I brought this to the attention of management and rather than crediting the $39 euro they comped me an appetizer.
Now as far as honoring Hilton status, being a Hilton Diamond, I received nothing. I booked 2 award nights (Standard King) and 2 paid nights King with Rome View. You think they could have upgraded me the first two nights, as Diamond, to the King with Rome View since I paid for the last two nights. No I had to pay an extra $120 euro a night for the upgrade. It is what it is. Also there is no Executive Lounge, it’s called an Imperial Lounge and Hilton Diamond members do not have access. Italy is becoming like the US as far as upgrades are concerned for Diamond members.
On a positive note the view of Rome from my balcony was breathtaking.
If the Cavalieri ownership started investing a bit in updating the rooms this could be a 5 star but right now in my opinion it I’d give it 4 stars. Also please consider opening the lounge access to Hilton Diamonds.

This hotel is situated on a hill outside the center of Rome, providing breathtaking views of the city. However, the downside of this location is that it is quite far from the center, requiring guests to rely on the hotel shuttle service or take a taxi to reach the city center.
The service at the hotel is exceptional, with extremely friendly and helpful staff from the moment of arrival until departure. My room was spacious with an excellent bed, comfortable seating area, and a good desk for work. The basic internet provided was adequate, although it is disappointing that Hilton still charges a fee for higher speed internet, which is unreasonable nowadays in a high-price hotel.
The breakfast offered a wide variety of options, ensuring guests could start their day on the right foot.

We just left 3 blissful nights at the Rome Cavalieri Hotel and it was fabulous! We stayed in a family room, which was 2 adjoining rooms, and although it was quite pricey it was worth every penny! The one drawback is the location, which is really not walking distance to anything, and we typically enjoy being able to walk back and forth to the hotel several times in a day while travelling....but the gorgeous pool and grounds, and the respite they gave us on a warm Rome day, were a trade-off that worked on this vacation. The staff are phenomenal, always with a smile and willing to help, the breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the facilities top notch. My two small complaints/suggestions for improvement would be to increase the frequency of the shuttles/not have such a long gap in the afternoons, and have coffee makers available in the rooms. Overall a fabulous experience and we would not hesitate to return!

Hi, the shuttle bus ran every half an hour when we stayed at the hotel. It picks up from the same place it drops you. We found we just got a taxi into and out of the centre. They are a very good price and it allowed us to go to the exact place we wanted and pick one up the same.
