The idea to open The RomeHello popped up in my mind a few years ago. Many of the international friends I had met during my own European travels would ask me for suggestions on where to find a cheap and nice place to stay in my home city of Rome. But, even after some research, I didn’t find anything fitting for them. And I thought it was senseless that a city like Rome, with all it has to offer, was kind of prohibitive for young tourists. So as my family has worked in tourism for many years, I decided to involve them in the project of opening a hostel in our city - to make it not only ours but everyone’s. Also, I decided to combine the project with my intention to do something good for the others. So I turned the hostel into a non-profit social enterprise, with the aim of changing the economic thinking of standard companies.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is next level good! It’s HUGE, clean, eco-friendly, handicap accessible, and even kid friendly! They’ve thought of everything...they employ two full time cleaners who have Down syndrome which makes me so happy. The staff is superb. And I mean truly magnificent - Eduardo and Luigi especially. There are activities daily - I did the pasta cooking class and pizza cooking class. There were two small children and the staff was excellent with balancing their needs with the adults’ needs. The walking tour was wonderful as well as the community dinner. Such a nice group of people here. The hostel is also located in a perfectly safe location close to everything you’ll need to get a taste of Rome. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We are a family with two tweens. We stayed in a private quad room, and our stay was stellar. The front desk staff was so helpful and kind from the first moment. They stored our luggage for free so we could enjoy the city, made change countless times and filled us in on all the amenities. There is a coin operated washer and dryer on site, full kitchen, water filling machine (ether sparkling or still for twenty cents a half ltr), vending machine, on site restaurant and more. I highly recommend the creamy scrambled eggs if you go for breakfast. They even cleaned our room each day and the front counter is staffed 24/7, so checking out early in the morning was no problem. I can’t say enough good things about this place and its people.

My son paid for us to have a city break
Arrived at the Rome hello after an Uber drive from camp Nino airport, reception was outstanding ,very specific of times, events and any offers in the area, very knowledgable and interested in our needs.
Everyone we met in the building were very nice too,the building is kept clean and there are plenty of cameras keeping an eye out for many unwanted guests.
Lovely c lean rooms and a shared kitchen on the ground floor.Wheter you to choose to relax and mingle or use the hoisted as a place to return to at the end of the day.
We had a lovely time there plus breakfast is 7 euros and more than enough food tastes to cover
A big Thankyou to everyone there

When my wife told me we would be staying in a hostel, I have to completely honest and say my blood ran ice cold. I had visions of grubby communal bathrooms and harf, fecund bunk beds. The Rome Hello is the total opposite of that. Very central (the metro stop Republica is 2 minutes down the road) and extraordinarily welcoming, this is a clean, warm and welcoming place to hang your hat whilst in this beautiful city.

We had a triple room which was spacious, warm and just about the cleanest hotel room I've ever stayed in, beautifully decorated and comfortable. The hostel itself has lovel communal areas, a coffee machine (for 50 cents you can get a pretty damned good cappuccino) and a kitchen you are free to use. Next door is The Barrel, their resteraunt where we dined the first night and the food was excellent.

The staff are just lovely people, all really invested in making your stay the best it can possibly be. It is utterly recommended.

Beautiful place, at the entrance there are painted walls and a lot of attention to style, frequent cleaning, trained and welcoming staff. The common rooms are very beautiful, where you can stop for work/study, there is also the possibility of using a kitchen. I appreciated the philosophy against waste and waste, there is a water dispenser where you can fill your own container or purchase one supplied. Another strong point is the breakfast, very assorted, you can have it both sweet and savory, excellent eggs with crispy bacon, sandwiches and pancakes, and I really appreciated the American coffee, it's not easy to find a place that knows how to do it well . The only small flaw is that the windows only have blackout curtains that let light through.

I had never stayed in a hostel before so I was a little apprehensive. However, I was blown away with how clean the room was. Most hotels are not even that clean! The bed was comfy so I slept well every night. The staff are also very helpful and most can speak a couple of languages, so there was no language barrier for us Brits. They also had a lot of activities going on for example walking tours or learning how to make pizza the italian way. There is also a restaurant and bar attached to the hostel which was excellent too. Our breakfast was well worth the extra 7 euros, there was lots of choice.

Great hostel for families. We stayed in a quadruple room which has a double bed, bunks, and an ensuite. Our friends stayed in the room next door, and we used the common rooms dow stairs (big and clean, kids loved the hammock swings). Loved the location (15 min walk from Trevi fountain and Termini station), restaurant onsite was handy with tired kids, and reception staff were incredibly helpful.

When the missus said we were staying in a hostel, I was dreaded it!
When we walked in, we were greeted by friendly people and the front desked was being worked by a lovely lady.
Very welcoming and friendly.
We went to our room and it was, hands down, the cleanest and nicest smelling room we had stayed in through a 17 travel and stay in many places.
It was fantastic.
The staff are first class, the rooms and whole place was immaculate and it really was a pleasure staying here.
Its a great location and I would highly recommend going for early morning walks to miss the large crowds.
There is not a thing I could say that is negative about this place.
We were able to get a later check out too which was a great help!
If I ever visit Rome again, I will be staying here!

A great structure with a very beautiful and very welcoming industrial style. We had booked a double room and received a triple room. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and in very good condition. Everything was cleaned every day. The breakfast was well presented and tempting. We recommend this establishment which offers good value for money and a good location in relation to tourist sites (10 minutes from the station and 15 minutes from the Trevi Fountain, all on foot).

TheRomeHello is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in (and I've stayed in many). As a hostel receptionist myself I pay attention to every details when staying in hostels/hotels- those guys tick all the boxes and more. From super clean, spacious and bright rooms to great common areas. However, the best part of this place is the incredible staff - always with massive smiles on their faces and full of useful local tips. Make sure you take part in hostel activities and walking tours.

Thanks so much and see you next time (or in Edinburgh)!

Our private room had one large bed--I believe it was a king. It certainly wasn't a bunk bed! This is really a wonderful place in perfect condition and with terrific service!

I did not. When I was in Rome I did the hop on hop off bus. Upgraded and included the tour of the Vatican.. Be wary of Rome. The people are RUDE there, especially at The Vatican! When I came back I have come across multiple friends and some clients who all had the exact same experience in Rome. However the hotel is completely friendly! I had a great experience at the hotel so they are very helpful I would message the hotel and inquire about their tours. Hope that helps! Good Luck 😉
