The Blue Hostel was wonderful...Conveniently located near the train station...comfortable beautifully appointed rooms...attentive staff. They even upgraded us to a suite at no extra cost. You can't go wrong.

The location was great, the room was lovely and the staff were really friendly. Nice quiet location but close to everything! The room was really comfy, clean and beautifully decorated, it even had a fully stocked coffee machine. I had my bags carried for me when I arrived and had a pesonalised map with points of interest. All in all...

I have stayed twice at this excellent small hotel in Rome in recent weeks and each time found it to be a really ideal base. Ercole and Andrea are terrific and helped me with local recommendations. They went out of their way to help with booking an early morning car service to the airport - the driver was really great...

Great communication from hostel manager before we arrived. The Blue Hostel is very easy to find, from the station / airport bus and we were at the door within 10 minutes. It is well placed for walking to all the main sights, such as the Colosseum, the museum and there are lots of small shops and restaurants on the roads...

Only stayed for one night but the experience was a nice one. Nice and clean room, with a welcoming atmosphere and a much appreciated coffee maker. Next to one of Rome's landmarks, the Santa Maria Maggiore. Got detailed recommendations for cafés and restaurants in the Monti area (not available at other hotels 😉). Will surely consider staying at Bluehostel again,...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
