Stayed here for 6 nights in a double room. Giogia was waiting at the B&B when we arrived (she doesn't live there), she was very helpful and provided us with a map and circled the main sights. We paid cash on arrival (plus 2 EUROs per night each for city tax not included in rate). The room and ensuite were... More

the room was very very basic. No aircond in summer just makes the room very uncomfortable. also the rooms are proper small. and for your breakfast, you will have to walk to the a nearby cafe for a "bad breakfast". the only plus for this place is the location which is like 10 min walk to the colisium. But please... More

Great location to walk to the main sights of Rome plus close to Metro and main train station. The room was very nice and well equipped with use of a coffee machine and small fridge. Lovely people and so helpful with map and directions. Only issues were no WIFI plus the breakfast would barely pass as one. You head around... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights as part of a longer trip to Italy. We wanted somewhere in a good location and not too expensive, as we figured we wouldn't need a swanky room because we would be spending most of our time out of it sightseeing. The B&B was in a great location about 10 minutes... More

The room was very clean and well furnished in towels. The owner that we only saw on our arrival was very pleasant and let us leave our luggage on the departure day. A point that really need to be improved is the place where we get the breakfast included in the morning. It is the worst coffee place in the... More

We would heartly recommend staying here to anyone staying in Rome on a budget. Georgia could not have been more helpful - so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was perfectly adequate and it was good to have the use of a kitchen to make drinks and snacks. So close to the main sights, we hardly used the metro, we found... More

This B&B was perfect for us as we were on a budget and was lovely and clean. Giorgia met us and was very friendly, explaining how to lock the door properly and how to work the coffee machine. She gave us a map on arrival and even circled a few things she thought we might like to see. The Colosseum... More

As soon as we booked on line we received an e-mail from Georgia who runs the place - nice personal touch. She was there to meet us when we arrived even although we were later than we said - took us longer to get there from the airport than we realised. It's not a hotel so there's no 'service' as... Having spent an exciting but very hot and tiring day seeing the sights of Rome, we arrived to a wonderful welcome from the lovely Giorgia and a spacious, very clean room in a lovely old building just off Piazza San Giovanni... The location is not bad if you know the buses. Take the 85 or the 87 to get to the heart of old rome. The bus stop is right in front of the cafe where breakfast is served. Simple. There are also 2 metro stops within easy walking distance. The Merulana ristorante is quite good and right at your doorstep.... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Obeliscum is located in the heart of Rome. Situated in San Giovanni area, just a few steps away from the famous Cathedral, near Fori Imperiali, Piazza Venezia and just 10 minutes walk from the Colosseo. Obeliscum is located in an ideal position, strategic to the major tourist attractions. Our holiday home is situated on the 1st floor of a 19th-century building. Recently restored, all rooms are furnished in classic Italian style. From here you can easily reach all the principal sites of historical and artistic interest of the city and also the most famous areas for shopping. Public transport passes in front of the building where there are direct buses to Termini Station. We offer a family-type ambiance for an unforgettable stay in the eternal city. History: The house is called "obeliscum" because in the middle of the square you can admire a magnificent obelisk. It is the third obelisk reused by Sixtus V. It was made in 1504/1450 BC, found in the Circus Maximus, where the Emperor Constance put it in 357 A.D. It is the highest in Rome, 47 mt high! The house has been recently renovated, all the rooms are comfortable and quiet. We provide 2 types of accommodation:one double room and two triple rooms and in one of the triple room there is the possibility to add a small bed. All our rooms are equipped with private bathroom with shower and TV. Our staff is glad to welcome you and help you with anything you may need like restaurant reservations, taxi or car rentals, museum tickets, guided tour bookings, advice about the most beautiful and famous places to visit in the Eternal City and to make unforgettable your stay in Rome. ... more   less
