My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights with a work trip. It is a very charming, historic hotel in a fantastic location in Trastevere. The rooms were nice, and the hotel grounds were well kept. It was hard to believe this hotel was in the middle of a bustling area. The location made it very easy to walk...

My wife and I visited this hotel in November; it wasn't too crowded (considering it was towards the end of the tourist season). Hotel staff : for the most part were really nice. Room was nice but they do switch off the central air in Nov, so we had to keep the window open and sleep. They don't have a...

This hotel is in a former convent from the 1600s. It's charming, comfortable and reasonably priced. The Trastevere location adds to the charm - it's away from the masses, but an easy walk to most places. Our room had a terrace that gave a nice view of the city's rooftops.

I was a bit reluctant to book this Hotel given some of the indifferent to negative reviews, but I did, and we have no regrets whatsoever. The Hotel Donna Camilla Savelli is a solid four-star property located in what many people describe as one of Rome’s most trendy neighborhoods. With 78 rooms, this is a large hotel (by our standards)...

Quiet corner of Trastevere with lots of restaurants nearby. 15 minute walk to Vatican. Breakfast buffet included eggs, meats and pancakes as well as fruits, cheeses and sweet breads. The small church(chapel) on site offered daily mass perfect if your trip is a pilgrimage. Former convent that has many unique features. Friendly staff.

Lovely hotel conveniently located in Trastevere, near wonderful sightseeing and great, inexpensive resturants. 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' and for me the entrance courtyard as well as the tile floors and lovely chapel (yes, chapel) in the hotel are exquisite....you feel as if your in a museum. The rooms are nice size, the beds comfortable, and the...

This is the second time we have stayed here and we came back because we enjoyed the rooms, the staff and the location. We had a room overlooking the courtyard which I hear is quieter than ones on the street side. It was a little hot, but we could open our door to the small balcony to cool it off....

The hotel is beautiful inside. It was very clean. The beds were comfortable. Staff was friendly. The only problem was the room was very warm and we opened our window but it was very noisy outside. The location was great. It was close to several restaurants. We walked almost everywhere in the city. There was free WIfi and free breakfast.

This was our last night in Rome and we went with high expectations after reading all the positive reviews on here. I can definitely say we were underwhelmed. The Pros: Great location in Trastevere. Quick walk to wonderful cobblestone streets and some of the best restaurants in the city. The view (both from the Room, and from the rooftop) is...

Beautiful building with many features of the original convent retained, including a lovely secluded garden to eat your breakfast in. Nice rooms, friendly staff. The location is excellent - quiet, but close to many good restaurants & bars in the busy Trilussa area of Trastevere, with the Ponte Sisto then giving quick access to central Rome.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
