We’ve just got back from a 3 night stay here and we had a fantastic time.

Check in was quick and easy, staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel reception area is beautiful.

Our room was a superior double room, it was spotlessly clean and was big enough for us.

We also used the spa on two of our nights, which was included in our price. This is a wonderful facility, especially sitting in the hot tub after walking all day long!

There is a fairly wide variety of food available at breakfast, it is small in the dining area, however we went down for breakfast just before 8 and although breakfast technically wasn't open until 8, we managed to eat and there was only one or two other tables. We didn’t personally experience it being small and cramped but I can understand why people would say this if it is busy as the tables are close together.

We had drinks at the hotel bar each night, there’s a wide variety of drinks available and the bar had a nice atmosphere.

All of the staff were incredibly friendly, in particular, Mario who worked on the bar each night, he went above and beyond and made us feel extremely welcome!

The location is perfect for sightseeing in Rome with only a few minutes walk away from the Trevi fountain and the Spanish steps, it’s about a 25-30 minute walk to the colosseum.

I would without a doubt say this is a four star hotel, yes elements of the hotel are small, such as the shower and the breakfast area but it certainly didn’t bother us- we would love to go back and have drinks on the rooftop bar in summer!

Thank you you for a wonderful stay!!

The hotel had a great style, was very clean and the location was perfect and in walking distance to everything we wanted. However, we felt that there were certain things that let it down. The room we stayed in was exceptionally noisy and woke us up every morning at about 7am from the traffic outside even when the window was shut. There was nothing to put toiletries on in the shower and the storage was very limited. We also found the service fairly poor, some of the staff were rude and it seemed at times that they couldn’t be bothered to help us.

Hotel 87, part of a chain, with the number being the street number of the place, was a good find.
Contray to many reviews on here, we had a great stay. Maybe we arrived after all the renovation work, as we were in the hotel itself. Politely staffed, with a 24hr reception, it's just around the corner from the Trevi Fountain and is pretty much on the doorstep of all you would want to see in Rome.
The basic rooms are just that. Basic. However, they are spotless, the beds are sooooo comfy, the showers are great, so all you need as a place to crash. A brew kit is in the room and you can get access to their pool, gym and sauna. We got upgraded so was free, but there is a small charge for the basic rooms.
There is a rooftop bar too open from 6pm til 1am and gives a pretty good view over the city on a night time but is a bit pricey. There is a jacuzzi up there but it was empty on our visit. The stairs to it are windy metal types so don't have too many up there as getting down may be an issue :-))
Brekky is served from 7.30 am and is €15, buffet style. We however, went across the street to a small café.
Don't forget to pay your tourist tax (€6 pp/pn) like we did. Got chased out the door. Easy to forget as you would usually pay it on arrival.
As a bonus, there is a great little Gelato shop next to it that is open late

Stayed here for a two night break. Location is incredible, so much within walking distance, amazing choice of shops, restaurants, ice cream parlours. Absolutely amazing. The hotel itself is nice & clean, the staff are so friendly & helpful, the rooms are so cozy & the breakfast range is spot on. A couple of negatives too unfortunately! The roof terrace is lovely but the most expensive glass of wine we found in Rome at 8 euros a glass! Only two sachets of coffee in the room & stock is not replenished when room is cleaned. Ithercthaa as k that I would recommend this hotel & I definitely would stay here again.

I booked for 4 nights at the second building they have as I thought that both buildings should be similar and 4* but no, the second building was horrible. See photos below. We were given a room opposite housekeeping’s room ( where they keep their cleaning supplies) and the first morning we woke up at 5.30 as someone entered this room and started making noise. Around 8-8.30 housekeeping put music and were making too much noise banging doors. I asked at reception if we could move room and get a quite one. We were happy to pay any extras if the same room category wasn’t available. Also my husband made it clear that we need a room far from housekeeping’s room as they were making noise. The receptionist said that housekeeping started at 8.30 and blamed the other guests for the noise but that wasn’t true. Not only he didn’t admit that it was hotel’s staff who made the noise but we were treated as liars. He even said my husband that I said the noise started at 8 and not 5.30am. For about half an hour we were trying to explain and make him understand that we need a quiet room as staff was going in and out from housekeeping’s room.
Anyway, he agreed to move us room. We went around 3.30pm to get the keys and we found out that he moved us at the room NEXT to housekeeping’s room. We started explaining again that we are happy to pay extra and that we need a room far from housekeeping’s one as I am pregnant and I need to sleep and rest. He replied “oh so now you changed opinion again and you want a different room, I asked housekeeping to change you room and now you don’t want it”. He again treated us like liars but when my husband told him to check the cctv and see who made the noise at 5.30am he shouted a “No”. When my husband told him that this is bad customer service, the receptionist got up from his chair shouting and pointing his finger to us. I understood that he didn’t care about what we were saying and our problem so I just asked what his position was so I would speak with someone else and what his name was and he replied “ oh so now the problem is me”.
I don’t know if the hotel or the staff was worst. Later we went to have breakfast (waste of money as their breakfast has 5 things only) and he came at breakfast, talked Italian to the waiters about us ( I have an Italian mum so I understood exactly what he said but I was already shaking after what happened at reception that I couldn’t argue again). We later that day asked for front office manager’s email and general manager’s email but they didn’t give it to us.

Don’t book this hotel, they don’t care about your stay. All they want is your money. Not only you will have a 1 star hotel for the price of a 4 star hotel but you will be treated bad by their staff. As a travel agent, that’s clearly a hotel that I will never recommend to my friends or clients.

Ps* the next morning when the staff entered housekeeping’s room at 5.30am I opened our door and took a photo as proof and also recorded the noise they made but guess what…. They didn’t care

We had a great stay at Hotel 87. The room was really nice, we had a small balcony over looking the main street. I know people in previous reviews said the rooms were small, but it's Europe, I dont think I've ever stayed in a huge hotel room in most European cities I've been in. Our only complaint about the room was the shelf on the wall was right above our bed so we kept hitting our head! So be careful if you get that room haha. The hotel was in a great location, all historical Rome sites were within 10-20 minutes walking. They provide a typical continental breakfast with eggs, croissants, pancakes, etc. If you're looking to save money, there is a gelato place right next door that has breakfast pastries too. But otherwise, Hotel 87 breakfast was convenient and tasted good. Another thing to remember if you stay here is you will need to pay city tax in cash, so make sure you have enough cash to cover that during checkout. I would definitely recommend the hotel to others. Friendly staff, well priced, clean rooms, and great location!

The location of the hotel is the only thing positive I can say.

If this was a 2 star hotel, I would feel okay about it. But it says it is a 4 star hotel but its really not.

Really dissapointed when you actually see it live, not like they posted online.

They barely look at you when you walk in the door, you get a feeling that you are being a burdon when you Ask for help.
Frist time we arriwed they just told us to sit down, and kept us waiting for 10 minutes without saying anything more

When we got to the room it had a really bad smell, like clogged drain. We asked for a new room wich they gave us. But it was much smaller than the original one.

One of the reasons why we wanted to stay here was because of the spa and gym facilities that were included. But when we first got to the hotel they said that the gym costs 10 euro for a workout and that you have to book it prior. It is also only open from 10 in the morning wich makes it hard to have a «early» workout before seeing the city.

When it comes to the breakfast, this is not somehing you expect from a 4 star hotel. The selection is very limted and not worth paying for. The crossaint I tried was really dry, and the omelett looked old. They dont serve any coffee, only from a normal coffee machine that did not taste any good. So basicly they only have eggs, bacon and som other sweets.

The hotel often give you a feeling that is not really cleaned, and it smells bad in some of the hallways and elavators. Its really little space in thehotel and it makes it feel more like a hostel. Not what you expect from the price they take.

The shower has very little power, and also goes from hot cold randomly.

It also leaks water from the cieling in our room.

Thanks!

This hotel was perfectly placed to get around the city, either by foot or by metro as it sits on a main road (no road noise heard from rooms). It's literally 4 minutes from Trevi & 7 minutes to Spanish Steps.
The hotel was a quaint, boutique style hotel with lots of quirky decor.
The service was excellent, you asked for something & it was actioned in minutes.
The breakfast offered was of a wide variety & was delicious.
Oh and the spa was a fab, we booked a time with receiption & had the spa to ourselves both times, just what you need after a day of walking to recharge for the evening.
We can't fault this hotel & will be returning.

I booked this hotel for my partner's big "0" birthday and told the staff at the time of the booking that this was a special trip. I was sold the hotel because of the hot-tub on the roof which I booked for the morning of my partner's birthday so that we could have some champagne in the tub on the day. Two days before we were supposed to be at the hotel, we were told that the hot-tub had got damaged due to a lot of rain!! Not sure what the damage was and why it couldn't have been saved as we never saw it. I had paid for a superior room and had requested an upgrade, for which I was happy to pay but not only did I not get the upgrade, we did not even get the best superior room. Our bed was a two single bed room, zipped together to make a double bed, standard practice I know, but those beds are never very comfortable and this bed wasn't comfortable at all. It is very disappointing that we were not even offered the best in a superior room. We were offered nothing in exchange, not even a free drink for the big birthday date when they cancelled our booking for the hot tub. The hotel had many opportunities to make this a special stay and they made no effort at all. I emailed them with my complaints, and they did not bother to respond which is very poor hospitality etiquette!!

I will not recommend the hotel for these reasons.

The location was good for several of the sights and the hotel was very clean and that's why I gave it 2 stars.

Do NOT stay here, especially in summer. This is a 4 star hotel in name only. The only benefit of this hotel is the location relative to tourist destinations. There is effectively no aircon for the rooms of this hotel. When queried with the reception, the aircon is capped per room, and would not go below 26⁰C even in the middle of summer (even with that detail the aircon did not seem to be working at all). Room felt like a furnace.

The rooms are cramped and dark, barely capable of fitting a double bed (do not be fooled by their official photos). The gym, hottub etc are not included in your stay and are charged as extras (cash only). The 'private' hottub is in the middle of seating for the hotel bar so is very far from being private.

The staff were unhelpful and did not appear to care about any of the above. Book elsewhere to avoid disappointment. This hotel is equivalent to a one-star hotel only (and not a good one)

There are small hairdryers that are attached to the walls in the bathroom but they are heat sensitive. If would probably recommend to bring your own as it took me quite a while to dry my hair with the ones in the room!
