Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

More of a hotel than a hostel, very comfortable and clean, staff are friendly and location is amazing. Previous reviews are somewhat hilarious - elevators in Italy are small, this place does not have bedbugs (there IS an outbreak in France however, perhaps the visitor had come from there?) area was amazing (kids at the bodega outside are college kids, not "junkies") with plenty of restaurants and museums within walking distance. As with many Italian hotels, you have to insert one of the keys inside the room once you enter to turn on the electricity (response to someone who complained there was no power.) It was affordable and we liked it so much that we came back for a second visit!

The hotel was in a great location and felt safe. The room was nice and in good condition, and it was cleaned daily. There was no fridge in the room which would have been nice but it didn't bother us that much. Also, the bed and pillows were a bit hard for our personal preference but again not was not much of a bother for us. The staff were lovely and when we checked in we were given a map of Naples with attractions and transport routes which helped us a lot during out stay. The wifi had great connection. The elevator is really small but was reliable.

The photos are completely deceiving. After reading such great reviews and looking at the lovely photos, I thought Hotel Europea would be a great place for us to stay. This is definitely NOT a hotel, it is more like a hostel. Before checking in, I asked to see the rooms we were going to stay in and then I cancelled my booking. Already getting to the “hotel” indicated that I wasn’t going to like the place. There’s a big locked gate you need to go through, after passing through what looks like a parking lot turned into a coffee shop? Down a long corridor, up some steps, up a tiny tiny lift and then finally you get to the “reception”. I had read from previous reviews that the rooms were small so I was expecting that, but not THAT small! There was definitely no place to open up a small cabin bag up on the floor. There was barely any place to walk around the bed. The rooms themselves looked like those that you would rent by the hour and certainly not like the photos I saw! Still had to pay the cancelation charge which I find completely unfair and in the end, found another real hotel, down the road.

We booked here for three nights but due to our flight being canceled, could only stay two. We called that we would be a no show the first and despite the night clerk's limited English, our room was waiting when we arrived the next day. The room was small but cozy and flawlessly clean. The air con was perfect to get some relief from the summer heat. The location is fantastic. You are smack in the middle of Napels but because the hotel is a little tucked away we didn't hear any street noise at all. There is a taxi stand almost in front of the hotel. The metro is a short walk. Restaurants and bars are almost on the doorstep. I do agree with other reviewers that the staff at the reception wasn't overly friendly. They helped us with everything and gave good advice, cannot fault them. We noticed this a little bit through out our trip in Southern Italy, they seem to be no nonsense get the stuff done kind of people. We would stay here again and will definitely recommend this hotel to others.

I was very happy with my stay at Hotel Europeo. The location in the old part of Naples, right next to the university, is awesome for a young solo traveller. Due to COVID, I did not seek out conversation with the many students who were hanging out in the nearby square and cafes in the evening, but under different circumstances it would have been a perfect place to meet and chat with people. There are also a lot of nice, affordable places to eat (also vegan places) in the area, which was great. The room I stayed was very cosy and clean, and the self-check-in was easy. The guy who runs the place is also very nice, and the price per night is very good. It is also fairly close to the central station (20 min walk). I will definitely stay there again if I come back.

We definitely don’t recommend this hotel ! We have made a reservation for one night for this hotel under the booking platform. We have arrived around 4 pm at the hotel and until 6 pm nobody have answered the bell, nobody have answered the successive messages and calls to the contacts provided , the reception was with nobody there during more than two hours in the middle of a Sunday afternoon on the weekend. After this time wasted , as we have a early flight at 5 pm on the next day we have to find a new place to stay on a rush with a higher price . After that, we have been in contact with the hotel and with booking, apparently , during the reservation the email adress was populated with a “con” instead a “com” so in resume the check in reservation messages never came in into our mailboxes. If you don’t have the ability to understand this unexpected situation you are not able to manage a place from this sector, at this time they are from on side of the puzzle but maybe tomorrow they will make a regular mistake and would request the same comprehension . Afterwards, booking has requested the refund of the reservation that was previously charged and was rejected by the administration of the hotel so they have not shown good sense , is not about the amount , (even if we take in consideration that we have booked a room on a rush for a higher price , wasted time and paid for a service that was not provided), our sadness is related with the lack of ethical conduct , moral honesty and just a hungry for numbers and profit. If you are not able to respect the final customer , you are not able to host them !

Most things written about this hotel are correct: it’s hard to find initially, great location but don’t bother with the breakfast. Our taxi driver dropped us off 2 min walk away but we still struggled to find the hotel. It’s under some graffiti plastered arches where you will find a cafe. It is signposted but you have to look, press the intercom and you will be let in. After that your given a code for the gate. Staff are friendly. Rooms small but everything you need: toiletries, TV and good WiFi. Breakfast is 3.50 euro each, coffee, carton juice, croissant, cake and packet Melba toast with jam, don’t bother, you can get a coffee from reception for 1 Euro. Location is excellent, right in the historic centre, 2 minutes from Gesù Nuovo church (you must visit) 15 minutes from the cathedral, 20 mins to piazza del plebiscito, 20 mins to castle Nuovo plenty bars and cafes surround you

Stayed with my wife and grown-up sons. Just used room for sleeping so - yes the room is small and the hotel has few facilities (no fridge in room) but this didn't matter to us. The street looks awful but it is quite safe and right in the middle of tourist Naples. Staff were fine and pleasant. Hotel is a bit difficult to spot from the street but there is a sign above the security gate - just buzz when you arrive (they are manned 24/7) and they give you a code for the gate when you check in.
