I stayed here with my wife in 2009 and the hotel is just wonderful. Everything about it from the lobby to the room was incredible. The food in the restaurant was a tad overpriced compared to the quality you could get from the nearby restaurants but was otherwise fantastic. The staff was above average, losing points only for being very aloof. If this is what you prefer though, then they were otherwise good at their jobs. The pool was wonderful as was the man-made cove you swam in for an ocean dip. You have to take an elevator down through the cliff face to get to the dock.

We had a top floor room with a huge corner balcony and the balcony alone was worth every penny we paid to stay here. Sitting out on that balcony in two easy chairs while holding hands with my wife and feeling the breeze blow in off of the Mediterranean as the magnificent sun set is the happiest memory of my life.

I apologize for taking so long to write this review. I just noticed as I was submitting a review for a recent holiday that this was the one location I forgot to review from our honeymoon.

We went 'last minute' to Sorrento with our 21 year old son and picked the Ambasciatori as it had good reviews and looked beautiful. We were not disappointed. the views and the deck beach area are amazing. Its sister hotel the Royal Grand is slightly closer to the town so if walking is an issue you might want to consider that. It took us about 8-10 mins. Spotlessly clean and decent if not spectacular food both breakfast and dinner. Reception staff could have been a bit more attentive but then again they were all wearing masks in the middle of a pandemic so maybe that's a bit harsh!
If your budget allows book a room with a Sea view - stunning and you can watch the sunset.

The fact that this hotel is a ten minute walk from the busy centre of Sorrento is one of its finer points. After a busy day exploring an area that is beyond busy with tourists (of which of course I was one also) it is just so calming to arrive back in the cool elegance of the GHA and immediately start to wind down and enjoy the peace and tranquillity this hotel offers.

Our room was immaculate and faced the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius, what a truly magical view. The housekeeping staff did a fantastic job of keeping the room spotless with fresh towels daily, also closing the window shutter and turning the bed turn whilst we were at dinner. A special thank you to them.

Did I mention dinner….? Just amazing, first class food served every night of our stay. Amazing starters, beautiful main courses and devine desserts. All served by the most calm, attentive and good mannered waiters I’ve ever known in a hotel. Although all of them were excellent, but there’s a special mention for Franco, who delivers his own style of first class service and made our evenings so enjoyable.

Breakfast was quite simply astonishing every morning. To sit in that glorious breakfast dining room just looking out over the bay whilst enjoying more amazing food; gorgeous pastries, fresh fruit, and also freshly cooked right in front of you omelettes and scrambled eggs - without doubt the finest breakfast I’ve had anywhere ever.

Whilst I cannot remember the names of everyone that made our stay special, from the front desk staff, the concierge, the Maitre’d I do remember Sabrina from front desk.; what a delight this young lady is, so kind and helpful and a true ambassador to the Ambasciatori she really is.

This hotel may sit towards the higher end of the price scales for hotels in Sorrento and in my opinion it is all the better for that; remember that like most things in life you get what you pay for.

If we ever go back to Sorrento again it will be to this beautiful hotel to make more special lifelong memories.

We stayed here for a week in April, for a fair price for the start of the season. We told them it was our anniversary and they very kindly left a note and bottle of prosecco. The room itself was very clean, and maintained very well by the housekeeping staff who were very pleasant and always serviced the room twice a day. The beds weren't overly comfortable to be honest, and weren't really the standard we expected for a five star hotel. We did ask about upgrades at the start of our stay, and were told it was €150 extra a night, only to see an Instagram account post about a free complimentary upgrade a day later. Disappointing honestly if it was given to an influencer, and didn't really make us feel valued as customers.

The staff in the rest of the hotel were lovely to interact with, although we weren't asked about our stay at checkout so I was a bit disappointed. The amenities in the hotel are good, the pools (both the beach and the normal pool) were lovely to be in when the sun shon, and the staff in those areas were great.

The breakfast was good, a selection of baked goods, cold cuts, fruits and cereals as well as your cooked items such as pancakes and waffles and eggs. There were also some fry up items too. The hotel restaurant was a tad too expensive for our tastes when compared to the towns prices, so we never ate there. The views are amazing from every point in the hotel, restaurant included.

It's in a good location, the walk into the main square is 10 minutes but we never had an issue with it.

Overall it's a very nice hotel and lives up to the 5 star standard, and we would stay here again for the right price, although our standard room had a window staring out at a wall so we would probably upgrade.

It’s taken a bit of thinking about this review as I’ve rated other hotels with five * but this is probably the best we’ve ever stayed in. Full of elegance and style yet avoiding being stuffy. Italy, and especially here, is somewhere that service is taken seriously. Here being a waiter, housekeeper or porter is a career just like any other career and is an absolute pleasure to behold. We’ve been to this hotel three times in forty years, our honeymoon being the first time. On each visit the hotel has improved, changed and been brought up to meet the most modern and recent standards. It met every expectation whilst retaining that lovely luxurious homely feel where the friendly staff are doing everything to make sure you enjoy your time with them.

We stayed half board which for 10 days is probably too long but beside main menu, the chef will prepare almost any Italian dish for you which is enjoyed looking out on the panoramic views across The Bay of Naples with Vesuvius dominating the skyline in the distance. Absolutely wonderful. Brilliant food, not to be missed. Our only small complaint is there are some expensive items on the menu which are not included with half board but it’s not possible to pay the difference. You have to pay the full amount extra.

We loved having fresh towels morning and evening, coming back from dinner with the corner of the bed turned down, a chocolate and the bottled water replenished. Lovely touches to make you feel special, if the view from our balcony didn’t do that for you anyway.

No it’s not cheap but for celebrating a 40 year anniversary pls my better half’s 60th, way to go!

lovely stylish hotel. Felt very covid safe. nice pool for city hotel (no view), lovely free "beach" ie decked area over sea (many hotels charge guests for theirs). close to centre but not the marina ( 30 min walk). Lovely views and sunsets. room lovely, bathroom amazing- ask for sea view, balconys very small but amazing vies of sea ( not much of the coast line as its so close to the sea). Breakfast good, they do table service. coffee good. Lunch excellent . The hotel has lots of space and seats over the coast in garden areas which is charming. Staff all excellent. Dinner there was disappointing- massive menu for its size and they cant possibly cook it all fresh, food average. Waiters fair. Wine average. price over average.

My daughter and I spent four nights at the Ambasciatori to celebrate her 21st birthday (2 weeks earlier). I had emailed the hotel prior to our arrival and they arranged for a complimentary bottle of Prosecco to be in our room with a belated birthday card which was a lovely gesture.

The hotel itself was amazing with very attentive and helpful restaurant, reception and bar staff. Our room on the 2nd floor (611) was lovely, with a balcony overlooking the garden area/pool and with a view of the sea. The ‘private beach’ is a decked pontoon accessed by lift from the hotel and is a lovely quiet area with sun loungers and a bar.

We were half board and the breakfasts were delicious and freshly made to order, as was lunch. We ate dinner in the restaurant on the first night and it was delicious. It’s not cheap but if you’re looking for luxury and amazing views of Sorrento (port & marina), Naples Bay and Mount Vesuvius this is definitely the place to stay. We loved it and will definitely go back. Grazie mille!!

This elegantly classic 5 star hotel with amazing views and gardens. This hotel was visited in September during COVID19 so it was only 25% full which was a shame. Excellent restaurant by the pool but its a shame no food is offered down on their private beach only drinks. Superbly comfortable beds and we were upgraded. Thank you. BUT the breakfast was really disappointing. I know that you cannot offer a buffet breakfast right now but the pasties were rubbish, croissants like rubber, no pastry seemed freshly made - the worst pastries choice in any hotel for a long time. I could have had a breakfast in town in any cafe where the croissants were delicious and other selection of pastries looked out of this world. This needs attention. I was really disappointing and in the end i resorted to cereals every day and then the soya milk was lumpy at times. .

If you haven't the money to experience the full luxury of a balcony and sea view then book the cheapest room early April or late October and you will still remember your stay forever. You can escape to a quiet part of the gardens, the terrace overlooking the sea or even lay on the sun jetty listening to the waves. Marvellous.

After having cancelled several holidays this year because of Covid we were looking for a week in a comfortable hotel.
Ambasciatori could not have been more perfect.
Firstly it complies with all Covid rules of hygiene and separation. We felt very safe here.
Secondly it is in the most amazing location with an elevator to a swimming platform. Handy for town but in a quiet location.
Thirdly the hotel is immaculate and so relaxing. It was helped by being only 30% full but we just enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel and it’s spacious grounds.
All the staff were so friendly and helpful.
We had three great dinners here which we really enjoyed with the head waiter guiding us through the local wines.
Breakfast presented a fantastic view over the bay of Naples and the usual great staff. Here was the only fault. As buffets are not allowed it is served at the table. The menu is laid out like a buffet and you order each item. They either all arrived together or in a random order. It was fine once we got used to it and provided some amusement.
Our room was side sea view which looked over the harbour with fantastic sunsets. It had everything we needed and was spotless.
A great week and we would stay here again without hesitation.

I am sure that it would get the sun in the evening. The perfect views are that of the sea and Vesuvius but you do not live in the room so if its a good rate I would go for it.
