Gran Hotel Bali is the most singular hotel on the Costa Blanca, being the highest hotel in Europe. It is situated in La Cala de Benidorm, very close to the sea and is made up of two buildings with impressives views of the Benidorm skyline and Poniente Beach, certified with Bandera Azul. Our highest tower, was built in 2002, measures 186 meters with 52 floors of which 43 are of use for guests, and the total is 776 rooms, where there are 12 suites. In-room amenities include with an additional cost: room service, laundry service, and wireless Internet access in rooms. Our emblematic hotel has a luxurious lobby with 18 lifts, two of which are panoramic, and the reception area is open 24 hours. Among the services offered by the reception, the rental of safes, courtesy rooms, our service of the wallet card where you can use the room key-card to pay for your drinks and food without money, recharging the same and enjoying a 15% discount, and currency exchange. It also has a TV room, our Club Cotton Club and a games room. Gran Hotel Bali has two air-conditioned restaurants where we have high chairs for families with children. Also, there are areas with show cooking and buffet. Regarding to the cafeterias are 4 areas for use and enjoyment of our guests. With respect to the offer of leisure and entertaintment, Gran Hotel Bali has an extensive complete and adapted program to all ages. As well as, the hotel has 3 swimming pools on our magnificent terrace: one for adults and children, a children's pool and the large lake with an outdoor jacuzzi, surrounded by a large solarium area with sunbeds and umbrellas. This hotel is to be avoided, we stayed for two weeks in August 2020. The best parts are the reception staff. What went wrong: The restaurant is a total disaster both for breakfast and for evening meal. We brought this to the attention of management at the hotel which did not want to know about it only to keep us quiet while we were still there. Evening Meal consisted of fish that was still frozen on our third night. We obviously never dined again. My daughters gave her plate to the Manager Mr. Murillo who ran to the kitchen with it. He never even came back to us about this. I approached him after this and he was not very acceptable. I went on to explain that we had previous problems on the days prior. He got me to write it down but there was no real follow up. We were offered a room change but it was not an upgrade. We were also offered special treatment in the restaurant but I told the Manager all guests should receive this and I did not want to be made an exception of. Other problems with the food: temperatures were totally inadequate, to heat it up there was one microwave for the entire dining room. This had scrambled egg on the first occasions my husband used and on day three it was still there but had turned orange, therefore, the microwave never got cleaned even with covid. This is shocking. The quality of the food is extremely poor and unacceptable for a 4* hotel. We paid over 2000 Euro to stay at this hotel, we had prepaid for our meals and did not go to the restaurant for 11 x breakfasts and 11 x evening meals. I had a meeting with the manager and Javier (Guest Relations) and asked Mr Murillo to refund this and he said it would have to be done with our travel agent which I had not got a problem with. The hotel and the Manager refused to do this when the travel agent contacted them. We continued to eat out and there are lots of choice available locally and are very well priced. We only began to enjoy our holiday once we did not have to eat at this hotel. Initially, we had spoken with a Duty Manager Silvia regarding the restaurant and in particular after breakfast. She clearly did not want to know and never even got back to us. However, some changes were made. The kitchen staff were bringing out trollys of "warm" food and leaving unattended in the restaurant floor. The temperature was obviously reducing and they continued to place it on the hot plates. This did not warm the food, therefore if the food goes on tepid the best it can do is maintain it's temperature. It was never hot, The only item that was hot for breakfast were beans and they were stored in a soup urn. This without doubt as been our worst experience we have ever encountered in a hotel and we have traveled lots in the past 20 years. This hotel I could not recommend and advise you to avoid at all costs. I also have the background knowledge of working at front of house in a 5 Star Property and I really expected better from this hotel and its Management Staff. We were badly treated and as we did not use the service in the restaurant because of valid reasons the least the hotel could have done is to refund the money we prepaid. I followed up the hotel on their preferred Chanel of communication "whats app" and they decided not to respond!! Says enough. They just needed to keep us quiet while we were guests. The management knew it was unacceptable what we experienced and offered us to leave the hotel. I was a little shocked at this suggestion but to be honest after paying 2000 Euro I did not want to be chasing for this refund and also having to pay for a new hotel was not really an option. Mr. Murillo knew what we experienced was unacceptable, however, he was pleasant to speak with unlike his deputy Syvia who would not even allow us to finish our sentences and spoke in a very aggressive manner and was not pleasant or concerned about guests. such a shame....

Over crowded none of the staff spoke English Spanish only. Female receptionist very thin girl, grey hair, unbelievably rude. We checked out early couldn’t stay any longer. Dining was like a school canteen, glasses and cups were disgusting dirty. However waiters were helpful. The guy serving at the hot food counter, couldn’t serve me eggs because he said he didn’t speak English. On a positive the pool area was clean and we got clean towels daily. Catered for mainly Spanish pensioners very few UK tourists and any we met were in the local restaurants who like ourselves couldn’t stomach the food. Potatoes were powdered and it really was canteen type food. Generally hotel was clean but waiting times for the lifts were not great. Would I go back most definitely NOT. Locals in the bars mentioned about the food before we mentioned and the word locally is out there. Liked the area not very busy and not that far from beaches only a short walk. I gave One star due to the daily cleaning of the room and fresh towels. Plus I cannot give a Zero. Please think again before you decide here.

had a nice couple of days at the Gran hotel Bali, was a bit far out for main town benidorm but no problem getting a cab and a lovely walk back through the old town about 45 minutes. The hotel pool and bar area inside and out really lovely. All staff we meet were friendly. Hotel clean. We had breakfast included....dont bother the food was cold and so was the luke warm so called hot water so no proper tea..... The hotel and area is Spanish tourism but no problems at all all in all a nice break

Poor cleaning of the room. Several times we experienced that the bed linen was not changed, there was sand in the bed, the shower was not cleaned, waste was not taken away from the room and finally we had to complain to the reception, after that the room was cleaned satisfactorily. The bar located by the children's pool makes the worst Sangria we have experienced, the bartender mixed a little Fanta orange and Fanta Lime with some leftovers he had left in a plastic bottle, incredibly bad. During our week's stay, I have not had cold milk in the breakfast room a single day. When we arrived today from a long day's trip we ask the bartender if we could get a couple of ice cubes as the fridge in the room does not keep drinks cold, but then we had to pay 1 Euro, the bartender had a big bucket of ice cubes but with a sour face he have paid, we have traveled the world but never had to pay for a few ice cubes. We chose half board, mostly the same food every day, here you should be able to be more creative, we arrived on Saturday and then the best langostinos were served, but they only served this on Sat, in a city known for seafood you should vary more on the buffet and have several days with a small selection of seafood.? The worst we experienced was during dinner, the chef who is cooking hot food sweats, then takes paper and wipes his face and head but does not change plastic gloves, does not wash and does not use antibac and serves food to the next guest, very unhygienic! If this hotel is to appear as a 4 star hotel, there are several things the management should address. We travel a lot and have traveled around the world, we were in this hotel in 2018 but then it was much better!!

I have recently returned from hotel Bali, my second stay, and I was happy enough overall, and I would probably stay again. However…. …. My biggest gripe that really made no sense was set meal times. Just 2 different meal times for hundreds of people. So that means you have ALOT of people all queueing and descending on the dining room at the same time. Now, it wasn’t like this the last time I stayed, so I only assume it’s covid related. But where’s the sense? Aren’t you meant to space people out during Covid, not to tell them all to come at the same time?! This meant days had to be planned if I wanted to be back for dinner (bang on 8pm for me) waiting for lifts for 20 mins, food running out, not being able to get a drink etc etc. I won’t lie, it did ruin meal times for me as it was horrendously noisy, like a school canteen. Not a pleasant dining experience at all. Food was ok, nothing to write home about. But for the positives, room cleaning was exceptional, beds comfy, good shower, nice to have a fridge (take a travel kettle of you like a brew) views were lovely at sunrise and sunset. I know it’s at the end of the resort, but I prefer to stay somewhere quieter. We were only there a few days so walked a lot (maybe 45 minutes each way to new town at a slow pace along the beach, 30 mins to old town), but there are buses just round the corner from the hotel at 1.55 each way. Took maybe 10-15 minutes to town. Supermarket across the road and a tobacco shop. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the vicinity and just 5 minute walk to the beach and prom. I would stay again, just hope they go back to usual meal set up soon or I would probably just go room only.
