I've been there on October 2015 and wanted a place to sleep close to the main tourist attractions. it Is located dead in the center 10-20 minutes walk each direction. There is a slight problem opening the front door (you had to fight with the key so it would open) so it was annoying. There is no real common area... More

We have stayed in many different hostels in Madrid. This is by far the worst value. We paid 62 euros for a double room less comfortable than the 30 euro room we had before (they were full or we would have stayed). The room was smallish, the bathroom was tiny, the wifi virtually inexistent. It looked more flophouse than hostel... More

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during Nov 2012. They charged me 35 Euros per night. I had a horrible experience. Before I go into the details I want to say that I have stayed in other hotels for similar prices that were way better. So even if you are on a budget this hotel is not worth... More

If you are like me...trying to stretch the Euro as much it can be...this is a good place to land smacked in the middle of Madrid.Easily accessible to all parts of the city, safe, clean, right in front of the Police Station. There are eating places around it.And to top it all, the staff who run this place are genuinely friendly and caring.I... I have just returned from a 3 day trip to Madrid. This Hostal is located just off Gran Via, everything is pretty much within walking distance. For about 25 euro a night you get your own very clean room, you can't go wrong. Admittedly, it can get noisy outside, and working girls abound, but they won't bother you unless you... More

We stayed here for 3 nights the owners were lovely and very helpful. The hostal was clean and tidy but like anywhere in Madrid you can always hear the street so the earplugs saved the day. This hostal is being renovated and if you are after the ritz at a bargain price you are looking at the wrong place. Definately... More

We traveled in Spain during Semana Santa. It means very high rates on hotel rooms. Since we had to book not very cheap hotels during our first week of the trip, we thought we could spend less in our 4 nights in Madrid. So we choosed Hostal Tudescos. Bad, very bad dessision:-( The hostal in on third and fourth floor... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
