The rooms are really not clean, the blankets are obviously dirty with visible stains. It was a cold day in Madrid when we visited it and the window would not close tightly and cold air was blowing into the room. Bathroom was sort of unpleasant. You could feel like you are sleeping somewhere in the open as all sort of...

Stayed in Hostal Helena in May 2016 for 2 nights. Great price, nice and cheap. This is the first time I have stayed in a hostel as I usually stay in a hotel, however my room was very nice. Everything was clean and in working order, nothing was broken and there was no damage or anything wrong in my room!...

Stay here for 3 days in 2014, summer. Good, clean rooms with bathroom inside. Our room even have a picture on the wall. Good view to street and city from balcony! They have car parking in nearest buildings, cheapest then city parking. Center of the city, nearest to museums, shops and food!

I stayed with my family in Hostal Helena in January for 3 nights during our city trip. I can't complain. We got what we paid for. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Not all of them speak English but it wasn't a problem for us. Room was clean, everything was working (in-suite bathroom, TV, electrical sockets). Nothing was broken....

We liked the Hotel for our last days in Madrid. Most of all, the location in Gran Via, you cannot find a better location. Near All shops, Zara,Corte Ingles, near metro Callao, few minutes from Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, good choice for food (papizza and pan & Co in the vicinty). We were given a room which we did...

Nothing Special. Good Location. We found by walking around and picking a place. It was an ok price. About the same as others we checked out. The beds and bath were very basic. It was close to subway and walking distance from good sites.

Situated in the Gran Via, very central, despite being on such a busy road, we couldn't hear any of the noise from our room. We would advise if going by train to get off at Callao Station rather than the Gran Via as from Callao to the Hostal, it is literally just a few metres distance. The actual Hostal is...

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
