The best hostel in Madrid. The owner (Luz) is very friendly and we love her pet (Cheese). Our room was cleaned every day and they changed the towels every day. They have a fantastic Wi-Fi network. I recommend it a lot!

This little hostel is on the third floor of a building in the very heart of Madrid. I think they rent 5-6 rooms. There are three bathrooms for the rented rooms. It never caused a problem to find a free and clean one! No breakfast is served, but Nescafe and tea is available for free. They have a micro in...

It is a few blocks away from Sol. The place is completely neat, and the street is not as busy as others around. We stayed in a private room and it was practically like a hotel except for the private bathroom. I recommend it a lot. The owner is very kind.

During my last stay in Madrid, I went to 2 hostals, so easier to compare. Well, I guess it depends on your values, and probably your age, too. Let's see: ma values are: good bed for my back, a quiet space in order to sleep well, clean and easy access to public transportation. Well, it was all of this and...

Luz, the owner, was very nice and welcoming. The room was clean and bright, nicely decorated by herself. The shared bathroom was always spotless and shiny and the common room, nice and quiet. We enjoyed our stay in the heart of Madrid and would warmly recommend the place.

From the moment our group arrived we were treated very well and the staff were incredibly friendly. The room itself (a two bed) was to a very high standard. The bed was very comfortable and it came with a sink and hair dryer, and was cleaned daily. Location wise, it couldn't really be more central. This was ideal for our...

Hard to disagree with the previous review the Hostal is in a perfect setting near the heart of the old Madrid city. From the warm welcome to help in printing E tickets the owners could not have been more hospitable. There is a kettle with free tea & sugar with a small lounge area. The rooms are clean & in...

My stay at Hostal Teran was just perfect. Its location between Plaza del Sol and Plaza Mayor is just unbeatable. I was given a lovely welcome by the staff there. The room was clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.

The location is just great. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The place was very clean and comfortable. That would normally be more than enough for a score of at least 4/5. Unfortunately, the walls are so thin you could have a conversation with the people in the adjoining rooms. Some guy (in another room, of course) spent the...

This hotel is right in the heart of old town Madrid. It is an easy walk to most of the important sights and convenient to 2 Metro stops. It is run by a wonderful, hard working, friendly family. The hostal is spotlessly clean. Good value for the money. We were completely satisfied. I would definitely choose to stay here again...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
