I spent 4 nights there in January of last year and I wouldn't want to stay there again. This hostel is like a rundown, student dorm, with only two bathrooms, one of which was our of order at the time. The double room was beyond basic..two bunk beds and a sink (nothing else!). The glass on one of the windows...

When we arrived we had to wait 2 hours to check-in. Then they gave us 2 keys for a room, none of which opened the door. We changed them, again they didn't worked. Eventually (1 more hours later) they changed our room. During the night the worse happened: some guy on drugs was staring very closely at girls sleeping, and...

I stayed here in April with my boyfriend for a couple of nights in a 2 person private room. Bed sheets were provided however the rooms and bathrooms weren't very clean and there was no communal area to meet other people. However, the location was very good and we could walk everywhere. It wasn't the best hostel we've stayed in...

This place is a nightmare, stay away if you know what's good for you. No locks on the doors (SKETCH), so anyone can come into the room and take your things because there are also not any lockers to lock up your things while you're gone. You can't be at the hostel between 11am and 3pm, which is also bizarre....

This hostel has it all! You want service!- it's occasionally got unprofessional sketch staff to create the semblance of service! You want bed sheets? - These sheets are the itchiest slimiest sheets in Europe! Guaranteed! Or your money not back! Would you like a hole in your wall? Yeah you would! these holes come pre-stuffed with trash and with scenic...

The hostel was located in the centre, it was close to everything so there wasn't any need to use the metro. The hostel had different buildings and the check in and out were at different places, but it was all pretty close. Staff were really nice and helpful. However we were lucky cos the hostel wasn't busy and they agreed...

Do not book at this hostel, totally unprofessional and lack of basic and necessary customer service skills! When we booked our stay in Madrid, we were pleasantly surprised by the photos displayed of the rooms, so we booked a room with private toilet facilities, but they do not reflect the actual state of the entire hostel. Once we arrived, we...

This place have a great location and you can get anything better in Madrid for this price. 9.99 for a single room in any big city in Euro is a great deal and even more if it is in Madrid. Let's not forget that it is the capital of spain. I was in Madrid for 15 days and I stayed...

The location is great but the service is the worst. I had to make a line of almost 1 hour to make the check out, the room was not clean the sheets smelled terrible and they had a stain of blood. The shared bathroom never had toilet paper. I do not recommend this hostel at all.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.

“If you want a good room you have to pay a little bit more that 6.5 euros per night. You need to book a single room.”
