Staff were great, location really good but the layout of the hostel means that you can hear everything going on so if there is a loud group (which there was during my stay) good luck getting any sleep! Not a bad hostel for meeting people though, and they do social events. Breakfast could be improved.

The hostel is perfectly set between the Puerta del Sol and the Calle de Atocha, so it's not only fast to go where you want but also easy to navigate the city with the hostel as a starting point. We went with the pub crawl group on Friday night and had a blast, and the midday tour was also great....

The hostel is located in the center of the city. Easy to find, easy to get any important place in Madrid. Really helpful, kind and nice hosts. Rooms are cleaned, beds are comfortable. There are a lot of extra services for free as well.

You get what you pay for. Brekfast was basic, toast and cornflakes and a piece of fruit. Bathrooms were plain annoying. Nowhere to get dressed; push button showers; tiny toilet cubicles. Bedrooms were noisy from street noise and paper thin walls. You have to make your own beds on arrival and take the sheets down to check out. Wifi was...

I've stayed in this hostel for 1 night, and it has saved me quiet a lot of time, cause everything is within walking distance! The monument, the museums and the parks. Also, the nearest métro station is just one block away! In the hostel, it is very clean and those guys in the reception is SUPER KIND!!!

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Posada de Huertas is in an ideal location in central Madrid, situated between the museums and the main shopping and nightlife district. Hostelworld guests have told us 'the location is fantastic; you can walk around to all the attractions if you want' and 'you can get to the heart of all nightlife in Sol in less than 10 minutes' from here. We like that the hostel has events happening nearly every day, with highly-praised entertaining and informative free walking tours and 'enough good common areas and activities to help you get to know Madrid' ... more   less
