Very good hotel, excellent position, very close to Madrids clean, fast efficient Metro, even with my 'gammy leg' I could walk to the retiro park, local bars are good, the plaza mayor is a lovely place to sit and people watch, bar prices in the hotel are not 'over the top' and the breakfast is among the best I have...

Spent 4 night in Ganivet hotel between 16th and 20th December. Requested a room with a terrace and were given room 502 on 5th floor. For the first two days we were the only occupied room on the top floor which was excellent it was a huge balcony with good views. Bedroom was very comfortable, with a very clean modern...

Hotel Ganivet is an adequate sleeping factory close to metro stations Puerto De Toledo and La Latina. The Plaza Major is at walking distance. Rooms are clean but far from spacious. To gain space the TV hangs from the wall. The hotel is quiet when you have a room facing the patio. Note that the Calle De Toledo is rather...

You really can't go wrong with this place. It's a mere 25mins from the airport by Metro, just £50pn and in a nice neighbourhood. I had a room on the top floor, all of which have a spacious terrace which is a bonus.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and parents, so we booked two double rooms. he rooms were exactly what we were waiting for a 3*star hotel. Average, comfortable enough and roomy. The cleaning was ok, which is one of the most important matters to us. This hotel has a car park and they charge you each night you...

Location good for those wanting easy access to metro and also excellent car parking although expensive. Rooms noisy overlooking street but quiet at rear. Good beds and plenty of good pillows. Good shower. Clean overall. Did not provide quiet room as requested. Refused any help to move bags from the noisy room provided when we asked for a transfer as...

Spent 3 nights in the Ganivet and couldn't fault it for value for money, cleanliness, service. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel is situated 5 mins from the fantastic La Latina area, Plaza Mayor and only a few minutes more to Plaza del Sol. Closest Metro station is Puerta de Toledo, being only a couple of minutes...

I've picked this hotel based on the good reviews on this site, and i was not wrong. The staff was very helpful, rooms clean and spacious. No noise and a great breakfast with good selections including some spanish foods. The metro station was 2 minutes away and the area of the hotel was quiet. I've had 3 great days here.

Staying in La Latina

Neighbourhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighbourhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighbourhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
