Nice clean modern hotel with superb location, right off Gran Via, in Chueca. The staff was great, the price was good, and the internet's free too. The place, however, has some odd design flaws they really should work on. First, the glass wall separating the bathroom is absurd. It's mostly opaque, but there's a square of clear glass positioned perfectly...

I stayed in the Petit Palace Ducal with a group of students in February 2006. It is a beautiful hotel and is right near the Gran Via. However, the strangest thing was that the bathroom walls are opaque glass and the door is partly clear glass so that you can see right into the bathroom. I have never seen anything...

Stayed 4 nights in this Hotel in very central location. Right across the street from the Gran Via metro. The downside is that it while it is just off the Gran Via the traffic can still be heard & if you are a light sleeper can be noisy. No complaints about Hotel although rooms are small they are clean, well...

Conveniently located off the Gran Via half way between the Prado & the Palace and near some wonderful restaurants. Muddle with booking but fortunately there were spare rooms and it was quickly sorted out. Staff all very pleasant. Breakfast reasonable. Rooms basic (but we expected that at the price) but badly thought out eg no hooks, no drawers, floppy anglepoise...

This trip to madrid was a big deal for my friend, as it was her first two nights ever away from her two-and-a-half-year old and it was my treat to her. i had booked the Petit Palace at Sol, the Londres one, and we arrived there to be told... that "there is no water. There is no electricity. There is...

Great location. Right in the middle of the trendy neighborhood Chueca, which is full of cute shops, great restaurants and bars, and happening gay nightlife. However, our room, which faced the street but was on the 6th floor, was very quiet! We also had a balcony which was fabulous. The room was modest, but clean, and the free internet was...

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
