In ten years of travel across the world from Southeast Asia to Latin America, I have never stayed in such a terrible hostel. Furthermore, I lived in Madrid for two years and have stayed at hostels across the city. But I needed a bed late notice and it was cheap. Mistake. The beds are disgusting with stained and ripped mattresses....

Staff is very welcoming and friendly. Although their English is not great, they make you feel at home. The Spanish guy with glasses is the best! :) Rooms are okay. Lockers working fine. Beds are VERY noisy and there's no light or socket near each bed!! Windows are not glazed so during the weekend it's impossible to sleep as you...

A nice little hostel. It is quite hard to find the eneterance as the front door has a very small sign. The rooms were clean. The bathroom was a little crowded. Breakfast was free - we had boiled eggs and toast. The kitchen is crowded at peak times.

Only stayed for one night as it was a passing visit. Hostel staff were friendly enough and the room was fairly comfortable and clean. Air conditioning worked well but room could have done with a bit of work, broken plug socket .etc. Area around us seemed to be ok and lots of bars .etc

A great hostel in the centre of the city. I stayed here whilst seeking long term accommodation in Madrid and it was the ideal place to be, what with it being so central. The staff are friendly and helpful, and you get breakfast included in the price. It is very affordable accommodation for Chueca and I highly recommend it.

Very conveniently located, most of the attractions are accessible on foot; and very close to the -very efficient- metro station "Chueca". (NB: a remarkably LGBT friendly neighborhood). A good value overall.

Booked to stay at this hostel for two nights, but only ended up staying for the first night because I woke up with 5 massive bed bug bites on my arm. Given the pattern of the bites and the fact that I was bitten overnight, it was obviously bed bugs. This hostel is pretty dingy and not well maintained so...

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
